Mexicali Rosa's Hamilton

They've definitely gone downhill over the past few years. The enchiladas were literally tasteless (Campbell's soup has more flavour). The menu said that the burrito was supposed to come with rice and beans but it only came with rice. When we asked the server, she said that it only came with one side. We weren't overly hungry so we didn't challenge it. The seat that I sat on had an enormous tear in it, as did the one in the next booth. I can't see it still being open in a year.

I have always been a huge fan of the Mexicali Rosas in Burlington and I _used_ to be a fan of this one in Hamilton until the last couple times I visited.

Last time I ordered my meal didn't come with the salad or beans it was supposed to. My waiter did no ask me what I wanted to drink but gave me a coke anyways. My food was cold, and the portions were minute.

The time before, beans tasted like total garbage. They tasted almost like the scent of wet ashes from cigarettes. I couldn't stand more than a bite. My waitress also informed me that it was no problem because a lot of people had been saying such things on this same day so this was nothing out of the norm apparently. She didn't even offer to replace the beans or make up for the trouble.

We used to like this place until the menu was "improved" by hiking the prices and reducing the portions significantly. They also removed some of their best dishes, like Tamales, and dropped the lunch menu entirely. They also seem to be pushing the alcoholic drinks more (higher margins I suppose). Not worth going back to unless the menu is changed again.

My husband and I have not been to the Hamilton location in about two years but have been to the Burlington location a few times. As we live in Hamilton, we decided to go to that location. Probably the worst food and service we have ever had. The food took about 40minutes, the Margarita was terrible. You hear the term "Run for the Border," well run for your life!!!! This place is not the restaurant I want to spend hard earned money at. I personally think that this place needs the "higher ups" to step in and sort things out. If they have already stepped in, then perhaps the owners/operators should take a stab at a new career because they do not know what they are doing. I forgot to mention that the lime in my husband's Corona had a hair on it. We will continue going to the Burlington location as they seem to know what is going on.

We've been regulars at this place for a number of years and the quality has steadily gone down each time we go there, but this last time was definitely the worst. I got food poisoning this time and was laid up in bed for two days! Their food is very bland, certainly not Mexican by any imagination. You have to ask for everything. They don't give you any garnishes, such as salsa or hot sauce unless you ask for it. They also have extremely loud annoying music on all the time, to the point that you have to shout to hear yourself speak. All in all the dining experience would have been better at a Taco Bell!! We haven't been to the Burlington restaurant in some time, so we may give them another try, but we definitely will not be going back to the Hamilton store!

honestly burlington is way better and i live in hamilton i would rather drive longer to get better service and quicker / hotter food!! GO TO BURLINGTON!

All you can eat taco night is limited to 2 tacos per time! Took 15 minutes for waitress to arrive for drink order. First 2 took 25 min to arrive, second 2 15min, stated we were leaving if 3rd order took more than 5 minutes. My food was beyond cold by the time my husband got his 3rd order. We left so he could go home and eat! Called to inform owner next day and was given $10 certificate.

They have recently changed their menu, and not for the better. They say that they "surveyed" the customers and they prefered smaller portions instead of increasing the prices. They have eliminated the side salad that came with the entrees, no garnishes(salsa, sour cream come with the quesadilla dinner). I've never HEARD of such a thing!!! The mexicali Salad was basically bagged lettuce thrown into a tortilla bowl, with a bit of chicken on top(for $12). You have to pay extra for sour cream, which is too small a serving to begin with. They have reduced portion sizes. Prices are TOO HIGH for what you get. The entrees all seem to have the same flavour.

I have to say I love Mexican Food and Mexicali Rosa's is the reason. From the moment I walked into the restaurant I felt I left Hamilton and entered Mexico.
Decor was amazing, food was great. No complaints.

Visited for my birthday and could not have had a worse time. They made fun of me for making my own reservation on my birthday myself, the service was terrible, with the waitress asking us constantly if we were ready to leave yet. Additionally, the food was greasy and in small portions. It's a no brainer...don't go.
