Mattina Pizzeria

I've been dealing with Mattina's Pizzeria since the day it opened 39 years ago. Always had great Pizza from there and is probably the best in the city. Their prices may seen a touch higher than other places but you are getting very good quality food that you won't find anywhere else. Their small pizza is everyone else's medium size pizza.

I read the review from the previous person (Amanda Nicole) and to me it sounds like a person who just can't be pleased no matter what. Some people are like that. Maybe she was on her PMS cycle. Yes the people who run Mattina's are Portugese and there may be a bit of a language barrier problem but I've always been able to convey what I want and never had any problem.

First off I would like to make note about the self centered young girl who answers the telephone there. I phoned to place an order.. I gave her my buzzer code which happens to have the # sign in the begging and end. I had to repeat it about 10 times before she comprhended what I was saying. Then she asked me to hold, covered the phone with her hand but did not do a very good job and bluntly said to her "Manager" "They told me the code, and I was like what the **** ( swear words).. What kind of buzzer is that". Then when she gave me the price, I asked her why she was so rude and she pretending she didn't know what I was talking about. My pizza arrived about 45 minutes later. When I opened the pizza I noticed it was cold. I took a bite out of it and it was hard as a rock, the chicken cut my gums open and the cheese was rock hard as well. I called Mattina Pizza and told them about the pizza requesting a new one. The ignorant little lady said that she doesn't know what their supposed to do in those kind of situations. How do you have someone work for you if they don't know what their doing? Then she put her Manager on the phone and he out and out told me I was lying about the pizza. That it came directly out of the oven and straight to my house. I told him I would bring the pizza down to the store and he can have a look and taste for himself. It tasted like it was sitting in a heater for 2 days, then reheated. When I said that to him he so kindly hung up in my ear and didn't answer the phone back to me. People do say that this is the best pizza store in the city of Hamilton, but I beg to differ. It is so gross that my dog even left the slice in her bowl. I called back private and that little wench picked up and was still ignorant about the whole thing asking us what she should do about it. I told her to give me back my money and take this pizza back or make me a new one. Then she hung up on me and never answered the phone again. I am absolutly disgusted with this place. I find it appauling that they can do such a thing. This is by far the WORST pizza I have ever encountered in my lifetime. Bella would be 10 times better.

I can not believe how rude and ignorant the young girl is that answers the phone...keep up the horrible customer service-I guess I shouldn't expect anything more from someone who answers the phone at a pizza place...learn how to speak to your customers!

recieved my pizza withing 25 minutes which was pretty good time considering it was ordered on a saturday when it is communly a busier day of the week, pizza was hot and delicious, should have ordered a larger pizza so i could have some the following day for breakfast! :P, recommend it to everyone!

My mom ordered a couple large pizzas for dinner and it was the worst pizza I've had. The crust was dried out like cardboard and hurt my jaw to chew through, the mushrooms were CANNED... horrible... and I personally didn't like the taste of the pepperoni they used either.

I was very disappointed since my mom and Nonna actually went out of their way to find really good pizza if not the best in Hamilton, so they came to this site and because of Mittina's reviews decided to give them a try. Definitely did not live up to the hype on here!!

Very disappointed.

Heard good things about this place so I ordered pizza from there last night. Pizza took a while to get to my place (40+min), but it was well worth the wait. Pizza was very good, definitely made Portuguese style. Crust tastes a lot like how my Grandmother makes it, except thinner. The Chouriço was sliced very thin as not to be greasy on the pizza. Overall one of the best pizzas I've had the pleasure of trying. It was a little expensive (three topping large pizza cost $20) but definitely worth the cost. Strongly recommended.

- kinda felt like they were letting me know they knew I wasn't a regular. Screw 'em - excellent pizza - except for the canned mushroom and limited toppings. Does any independent in in the area do sun-dried tomatoes or roasted red pepper ?

Absolutely the best pizza ... if there was a Nobel Prize in Pizza, Mattina's would win it!
