very pleased with the private party we had held at Brownies Downtown for our group of 35.
we enjoyed great food in a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, with only the best service.
Our 4 course dinner started off with very enjoyable crostinis, a great assortment of delicious fresh cheeses, meats and vegetables topped these grilled slices of baquette. We were then presented with a choice of salads between a caesar or verde. The greens seems market fresh, and dressing were very appitizing. Our group had the option of 5 different delicious entree selections. All guests at the party were quite pleased with their entrees. The sweet selections of dessert were also enjoyed by all.
We were very pleased with the chef/owner George Brown for his assistance in the great menu selction for the evening. We were also pleased by the fact he came out to mingle with me and the guests at the party.
I would strongly recommend Brownies Downtown for anyone holding a medium size dinner party for great food, great service, and great value. - Order: Crositnis, Ceasar and Verde salads,Roast Beef, Sole filet, Pork center loin, pasta Primavira stuffed Chicken Supremes

When seeking a place to host our small wedding reception, we were promised the world and delivered a small country. The food was not 'fine' and neither were the spirits. The seafood pasta had scallops that tasted rotten and had very little sauce. Even worse than the food was the choice and supply of alcohol. They only had one bottle of their high-end wine, had no tequila, ran out of Stella and a very poor choice of after dinner drinks. A family member later commented that they enjoyed the wedding but "it was unfortunate about the food". On top of all this, we had to chase a refund after we were overcharged. Go there if you're in the neighbourhood and want to sit in a pretty place but don't expect much and DON'T book them for an important occasion.

Brownies was the restaurant of choice for this celebration due to the intimate atmosphere, jazz entertainment and of course the food and service.
Everyone was impressed with the variety and selection of items on our menu. The meals, service and jazz were great...made for a wonderful celebration. Definitely a place to re-visit and a great venue to consider for small/medium celebrations. - Order: We ordered from a Fix Prixe menu that was created for a Birthday/Retirement dinner. Choices included choice of Caesar salad, walnut Dijon salad, crostini and a choice of entrees: fillet Mignon, sole, pork tenderloin, stuffed chicken breast, and pasta, included a glass of wine and platters of three dessert samples. There were 11 guests and we sampled most of the items offered on our menu.

My girlfriend & I have Brownies as one of our dining spots when we go out to catch up, Lieu lives in Toronto.
Brownies is Bistro best; chandeliers, fun prints & cozy in size. I started with a Martini "Cosmo" while we chose our starters. We shared the flat bread Flam "vegetarian" & the Blue Cheese & Pear Salad. I'm a blue cheese lover & this had plenty, Best I've had. The Flams are always great.
We chose both the House Red wines Niagara & Chile for our entrees. The Veal Marsala with an olive oil & garlic linguine was tasty & tender and the Mushroom glaze top flight. Pasta Feature of penne in a slightly sweet & spicy cream blush was topped with a chicken cutlet & roasted tomato. Great flavour combinations. We were full but opted to share the days Dessert feature "Ultimate Cheesecake" & indeed it was. Servers are attentive & fun, around our age, and everyone is relaxed enjoying.
Another Great Night! - Order: Martini, Red & White wine, Garden Flamm, Blue Cheese Pear Salad, Feature Pasta, Veal Marsala, Dessert Feature

This was my forth visit in two years, and first in 6 months - food previously has always been reasonably good... something's gone wrong here!! In the past the service has always been unprofessional - polite yes, but the kids working here don't know much about food or drink - over priced for basic martini (same price as a cosmo!). On this visit, no bread served with caprese salad - when asked server took it upon herself to ask for "toasted" bread - not the best to soak up the salad's dressing - main of the pork tenderloin was DRY despite the sause!! Tasted terrible, dry and stringy - doubt it was even ternderloin - when mentioned to owner, he said he was "surprised" and left it at that!!! The house wine is some flavourless red that the "salesmen were in the week before with"... only one option by the glass - for this kind of place they should have at least 3 or 4 reds by the glass ---- though the food has been good to very good in the past it was far from that this visit ----MY LAST!!
Great little room but his place needs some professional front of the house staff and should care more about its food more - and the owner should too!!

This month (July, 2008) Brownies hosted a dinner for ten, privately, in the upstairs room. The occasion way my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. As a family group, our main concern was that our father, who now suffers from Alzheimer's, feel comfortable in the setting and enjoy the evening out.
Brownie's more than satisfied. The wait staff was attentive and thorough. The food was uniformly excellent-- all appetizers and entrées came in a timely fashion. The wine menu was ample and the
bottles paired very well with food that was nicely prepared and presented-- the table guests enjoyed delicious filet, pork, chicken, fish, and several fine pastas. The kitchen also arranged for a special celebratory cake which with a complimentary digestif, was just the right combination to end a very enjoyable evening.
My sincere thanks to George Brown & staff for the quality of the food, their kind & attentive service, and generous spirit hosting a once-in-a-lifetime family celebration.
We'll definitely be back ! - Order: crostini, filet, fish of the day, stuffed chicken, pork loin, pastas, wine, cake & coffee, digestif

The food was spectacular...and the service was above and beyond! We loved the live background music and you couldn't ask for a better dining experience! George and his staff treated us so well, we actually had them cater our wedding last month...200 people, and they all raved too!
We look forward to lots of great dinners to come!

Being brand new to the area and knowing virtually no one my "then fiance" and I were looking for a small, cozy venue where the two of us could exchange wedding vows. Brownies was recommended to us by a local wedding coordinator so we decided to give it a try, and we are so happy we did. An inimate ceremony was conducted in their private upstairs room, followed by a delicious meal in the beautifully decorated dining area. The staff was very accomodating and helpful and they went out of their to make sure our special day was unique and special. Dinner was superb, food was delicious and plentiful and was presented beautifully. I already have and will continue to recommend Brownies to anyone for any type of dinner function. My husband and I plan on enjoying many anniversary dinners there. Thank you George for everything!!
- Order: pear salad, (YUMMY!!), chicken supreme, steak dinner....mmmmmm!!

Our organization was in need of a spot to visit for our post-Annual General
Meeting meal. I'm a huge fan of Brownie's, as is my assistant, so we
decided to go there. We cannot say enough good things about Brownie's. George was extremely
accomodating and tremendously helpful in putting the entire event together. He not only helped us to create a custom menu, but he was able to ensure
that everything came out in good time (we had a dedicated server, which we
were delighted with, as it ensured prompt and diligent attention). The food
was absolutely perfect and beautifully presented. All of our guests (there
were 12in total) were more than pleased with their dinners. The beef tenderloin, complemented by a blue cheese sauce, was superb - it
simply melted in your mouth. The dessert selection was scrumptious and featured the best brownie that
I've ever had.It was a great experience, overall. The decor is lovely
(http://www.browniesdowntown.com/gallery.html), the food is superb and the
service is excellent. I highly recommned Brownie's for any sort of meal,
whether it's lunch with a colleague, or a sit-down dinner for 20.10 stars!
- Order: Dijon Walnut Salad, Filet Mignon/Chicken Supremes de Vollaile, Mixed Dessert Plate
