  • I have been hearing about the Bedrock Bistro for years, and in fact it is a favourite amongst my family. I have been about 5 times in the past few years and have always enjoyed the food. However, the customer service needs some work. The last time that I visited this restaurant, I was very unhappy with the way I was treated. The food was fine, and the waitress was okay (not overly friendly but not rude). The problem came when I went to pay. They were having their debit machines fixed in the back, but still allowed me to pay by debit. The first time I tried, they told me that it had not gone through. I requested to try again, as I knew there was nothing wrong with my account. I also asked for the receipt stating it had not gone through. The lady then informed me that I could not in fact have the receipt, as it didn't print when it didn't go through. I thought this was strange but had to pay for the food someway and only had debit, so I continued with the second transaction. This time it went through, so while my friend paid, I decided to check my bank app on my phone to make sure it hadn't gone through my account twice. It had. Bedrock Bistro and the price was clearly listed twice on my account. I showed this to the waitress, expecting to be reimbursed in some way. I was running very low on money and needed it for gas, so I could not afford to pay double for my breakfast. The waitress informed me that basically, they could not believe me and it had to appear on their machine for them to reimburse me. Not only that, but it would not appear on their machine until midnight, so if I wanted my money back, I would have to come back again the next day. This was a problem for me as I live on the mountain and work in Flamborough during the day. It was extremely out of the way for me to come back. I told the waitress this, but she still could not do anything for me. I was not offered anything in compensation. I would have even been happy with a coupon or something. The next day, I made the effort to call the restaurant to check that I would in fact get my money back. The person I talked to had no idea what I was talking about, and took about 15 minutes to get things sorted out. I then was able to go down to the restaurant, but could only receive cash in reimbursement. During this entire experience, no one apologized at all for the inconvenience. When I requested to speak to the manager, I was informed that this would be the owner and that he did not speak English very well (their words not mine). The owner did appear while I was being reimbursed, but did not say a single word to me. I have had experiences similar to this at other restaurants and the customer service was nothing like this. The manager generally comes to talk to you, smooth things over, offer to comp something, etc. Nothing of the sort happened. I was made to feel as though I was a bother to them and that getting me my cash (which was not even how I wanted the money but at least accepted this way) was a lot of trouble for them. I may return to this restaurant for their food but their customer service skills are sorely lacking and are in great need of an update.

I sincerely apologize on behalf of my staff for this mishandled incident. As I am sure you are aware, this is uncommon. I hope you do return and if you do, please locate me (Scott) I would be happy to buy you breakfast.

  • First visit to this restaurant. Very family friendly, not exactly "date night" atmosphere, but we knew what to expect. Very fast service, always there to refill drinks and took our orders quickly. Didn't wait long at all for food. Very large portions! Able to bring back enough leftovers for another full meal. Great price for portion size.

Only criticism is to recommend getting an actual fry cutter and using fresh fries.

Great place to bring the family for sure!!

  • We were there at 11;am on a friday, we were seated at the table closest to the front door. wow..i wont do that again! Breakfast was good although the bacon tasted like it was deep fried b/c it tasted like grease. I can understand them cutting corners b/c the place was packed. but im wondering is it really worth it? i find the cartoon covered LCDs very annoying (thank god there is no sound) Oh & i couldnt pay at the front counter..was told to "pay my waitress"...not a good idea if you r in a hurry.

  • Order: Breakfast/perogys.

That's like saying the butter tasted too buttery. Bacon is fat and greasy! That's what makes it bacon and oh so good!

  • East End favourite... the Flintstones theme doesn't do it for me and I doubt that I'd order off the lunch menu, but breakfast is yummy. Wish they'd get more/better fruit on the menu.

  • Never had any bad food at all, but they could stand to change the home fries. The really only complaint that I have is that the parking lot is way to small.

  • I have been going to the Bedrock Bistro since I was a little kid.My parents took me their alot because my mother and I LOVE the flintstones. The atomsphere is away friendly and fun and I take my nephew their because of the cartoons that are alway playing . I have had a variety of food for the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. I will say that the breakfast is the best I have evey had, I always order egg's benedict because the presenation is nice and the portion size is just right. The service is wonderful, I have waited almost 40 min for breakfast but it is so worth the wait. Drinks are topped up with out asking, and the dinning room is really clean some with the bathrooms.

  • I have been to the Bistro many times as I live around the corner from the place. It has its upsides and downsides. Upsides - they have great service (usually) very speedy, a clean environment. I like the decor, it has the flinstones theme, without beating it to death.

Now the one or two complaints I do have would be 1. The food. Bacon should not be dried out. I have ordered it a few times and is never done correctly. I now just get the sausage which is good. I also had to send back my eggs three times the last time I was there as I asked for sunny eggs and the kept sending them out with the yolks completely cooked. Also the coffee is horrible. I think if you claim to be a breakfast joint then you have to know how to cook bacon, eggs, and the coffee must be good. These three things are all that matters when it comes to serving breakfast.

    2. There is a server who works there whom I will remain nameless.(They know who they are) This person is so cheerful its is fake. Seems very condiscending everytime I come. I understand being a server myself that you have to try and smile through the hard times. I get this server everytime and everytime I feel like I am being spoken to like a child. Just be yourself.

So in all it is a good restaraunt. Just order the sausage instead of bacon and stay clear of the coffee, your sure to enjoy it!

'If you'd like a list of restaurants where the servers are miserable we'd all be more than happy to oblige.' With BRAINS like yours I'd expect so much.

  • Bedrock is one of our favourite restaurants ever for any meal. The portions are generous and tasty. The staff have a fantastic rapport. Impressed with the young men (Scott and Richard) for the sense of humour and ability to do so while multitasking successfully in such a busy environment (especially Sunday mornings) I have never had a complaint about food or service and one time that I dd receive an error in my order, was quickly rectifie and with an apology. The price is right too. Friendliest place in Hamilton!

  • Order: have tried most of the menu but love the specials of the day

  • I've been here multiple times, its easily my favorite breakfast place in Hamilton. The portions are big, quality is great, and the price is just right for what you get. Upon entering the cozy atmosphere of this little restaurant, you are immediately approached by a friendly waitress to seat you to a nice clean table. They will make you're eggs which-ever way you like it and make sure you're coffee is always topped up. Everything is cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. Being the "Bedrock" bistro you would expect them to have an overwhelming Flintstones theme in the restaurant, but really, there is some Flintstones paraphernalia on shelves and an episode of the old Flintstones cartoon on which really just adds nostalgia more than anything; needless to say you'll be saying "hey! I remember watching that episode as a kid!".

While this place is great I do have a couple of complaints. Firstly, being hands-down the most popular breakfast restaurant in hamilton; it is typically very packed. I've never had to wait for a table yet, but don't be surprised if you walk in to a full restaurant. Secondly, they advertise "ALL DAY BREAKFAST!" I came in one day during dinner time fulfill my Bedrock Bistro breakfast craving, and was saddened to learn that their so called "ALL DAY BREAKFAST!" was limited to just eggs and toast and nothing else on their breakfast menu. I was told this was because their grills were off? I'm not sure what goes on back there, but if they advertise "ALL DAY BREAKFAST!" I would safely assume that their entire breakfast menu was available for order.

Overall, you wont be disappointed with this place as long as you come for breakfast during breakfast time.

  • This place has some amazing food! Me and my friends from Toronto came by because we were looking for rooms for rent for university, and the locals directed us straight here after we finished what we were doing. The service was the only problem we had, because well what do you expect when you have 6 hungry men roaring for bacon, eggs, steak, etc.

Only food that really disappointed me is there fries, but we got over that fact by getting the salads instead ( which are awsome!)

For sure this is "THE" place to bring anyone and everyone, and who knows thanks to us uni kids they might run outta food XD

  • Order: chicken parma, philey cheese stake, lots of chicken wings, half of the breakfast menu, and all the desert and liquor
