I come here whenever I can. I love this place and I love bringing new people with me to try. One of my absolute favourite things to get is the Spicy White Tuna Pizza. Its got a kick to it, but not so much that you can't handle it. August 8 has something for everyone.
- Order: Spicy White Tuna Pizza, cucumber roll, deep fried scalops, beef tenderloin, green tea to drink, red bean ice cream for dessert,
- Fantastic!!

Wow! This place is amazing! I went with friends for the first time a couple of months ago and was blown away. I just returned for a second visit last night for my birthday and it was even better than the first time.
The service is outstanding and food is out of this world. The House Special Deep Fried Spring Roll is one of my faves but the Mango Chicken so good my mouth will not stop watering!! Oh and I specifically ordered the Tenderloin Steak because of someones comment on here, they were so right - it was amazing! I can not wait to go again!

Stop researching for a good sushi restaurant in Hamilton because August 8 is one of the best. I would recommend this sushi place to anybody! Their menu is very open to people who cannot eat raw fish because they have Dim sum. Dim Sum is a type of Chinese cuisine that August 8 makes very delicious.
Their price ranges from $15-25 but it is almost the same price as other sushi restaurants in Hamilton. It is a great place for sushi lovers. Don’t waste your hard working money on a cheap sushi place because August 8’s food is worth every dollar you put in. It is an all you can eat buffet, so you can eat as much as you like, just for a solid price.
Their sushi is made perfectly. The rice is not too big and the fish and stuffing inside is adequate to the rice portion. Each piece is beautifully wrapped. Their Wasabi for dipping the sushi is hot, not like other restaurants where you can’t feel the spice. Their drinks are in big glasses and refills are free! There are delicious appetizers such as the beef mushroom roll, shrimp tempura and beef spare ribs.
Even though some of the waiter/ waitress are not fluent in English, but they’re very outgoing and enthusiastic. They are very good, but sometimes they are so busy they might forget to bring some items you request. Just remind them.
Overall, this restaurant is awesome! I definitely rate it as a 4.5/5 star sushi place.

This was my first time dining at a Japanese restaurant, which I've always wanted to try. I enjoyed my experience, although it was difficult for me to eat too much of the raw fish. I also stayed away from the chicken feet! There were plenty of other items on the menu to enjoy. I found the service excellent, prompt and friendly. It helped that I was with someone that had been there before.
- Order: All-you-can-eat menu.
- Food is the best. But service is NOT.

Of all the Sushi buffet places in Hamilton, this is probably the best in terms of pure food quality.
They have Dim Sum which is unique, plus they seem to place a lot of emphasis on quality. It's also the most expensive of the Sushi buffet places in Hamilton.
Also, they're always messing up orders. Can't tell you how many times that we've had food come to our table that was meant for someone else. (But I can't really complain, since it's buffet and they correct the mistake anyways).
Will go again.

WOW TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!
I went there at lunch with my family. we ordered like 10 items and they took forever. we asked a server why its taking so long. he told me its because we order too many that our order became the last. he told me to order again with few items. what is this? they cant just give few items at a time??? they put my entire order to be the last one???? also, i dont like how they only put one piece of ordering sheet i feel like they dont want us to order more than once which we CANT cuz if we order more than 5 items they dont come OUT! ONCE AGAIN I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS RESTAURANT. TERRIBLY SLOW i was there almost 2 hours for 10 items to come out.
i used to go to all u can eat sushi on main street but i love dimsum i tried this place HORRIBLEEEE I will go back to the all u can eat sushi on main st. - Order: all you can eat

Food quality is excellent, presentation is simple and colourful (as Japanese should be), the servers are always friendly and constantly filling your tea cup, however....
sometimes when you are a small party your order takes a long time to arrive, sometimes you don';t get all that you ordered, they have removed some of my faves from the Hamilton location menu
All that said - its still my fave Japanese place because of the quality of the food
- Order: variety
- Will continue to go no matter how PICKY some customers are!!

First off, To all those who say the servers need to learn english...YOU ARE GOING TO A CHINESE/JAP RESTAURANT, Expect them to not know english, like, are some of you for real? I rather have them authentically speak Chinese/Jap than speak english and not know sh*t all about the food their serving, especially dishes dealing with raw meat.
Second, The servers there have been nothing be sweet and they try very hard to please you. They may not know a lot of english but they do want to please you.
Third, i LOVE their food, everything from the rolls to the sishimi! everything is delish! Rolls may be a little big if you go to the hamilton location, but if you don't like that then go to the one in Burlington ( smaller rolls and basically everything, haha)
Last but not least, the location isnt the best only just because there is never any parking when we go which is 100 % annoying but we manage to find something close by so that doesn't really bug me. Overall, a really nice restaurant, especially for being dowtown near james street where everything is messy and destroyed. Looks nice inside and washrooms are always clean!
:)
- Order: Sishimi, dragon roll, surf clam, salmon roses, salmon pizza, shrimp tempura, Shrip noodles, Steak thingies, and LOTS more :)

I recently went to August 8 with a friend to go have a good time and ofcoarse to eat sushi. It was my first time ever going to August 8 and i was expecting it to be lets just say "better than it was". The sushi rolls to be honest were good but just too large. I remember having troubles fitting a single roll in my mouth and having to eat with my mouth full. The purpose? Probably to fill you up faster and I wasn't to pleased about that. the beef teppanyaki with mushroom looked good however it was overcooked and took a very long time to chew and swallow. And finally the shrimp tempura is one of my favorite things to order at a sushi restaurant and to tell you the truth, I had never been so unsatisfied with it until I ordered it here at august 8. The taste was bland and the sauce that came with it gave it no flavor at all. We only made one order and due to how bad things were, we didnt want to order anymore. We also had shrimp dumplings which had no problems and dessert. Not to mention there was no tiramisu (another dissapointment). The waitress.. Almost forgot. We only seen her twice (first time being when she took our orders and second when we had to pay) throughout the whole time we were there and really these are the reasons why both my friend and I were so dissapointed.
- Order: sushi (variety), shrimp tempura, shrimp dumplings, beef teppanyaki, icecream
- Satisfy them sushi cravings here!!

August 8th is a very nice restaurant in Hamilton, Ontario that has recently expanded and branched out to Burlington. I have been there quite a few times over the years since its opening and I still consider myself a faithful customer as that is the place I will go to for my sushi cravings. I would rate the service as generally alright; it really varies on the time of day and how busy it is. Typically, you can easily get a waitress's attention easily by a wave. I typically choose to dine there during dinner hours, when it is less busy and the service is better.
I personally recommend: Unagi (eel) roll, rainbow roll, salmon crispy roll, tempura shrimp, tempura yam, spicy crab meat (for less-sushi pros), and spicy white tuna roll. You can’t go wrong with that mix! They also have a nice variety of noodles such as ramen and udon and you further have a choice of getting it in a soup form or fried. One more appealing factor to some is the dim sum. I personally am not a fan of dim sum and have not indulged into that part of the menu so I cannot give a fair review about it. However, many may disagree with me and find it yet another attraction. Another great feature of their menu is their desserts section. They have a great selection of ice cream and sponge cake. My favorite flavors (I would completely recommend) the vanilla, mango, and red bean ice cream! The red bean ice-cream has quite a unique flavor, but it is a pleasant taste.
I also like the fact that they are extra polite; always smile and say goodbye to all their customers. Another winning factor is their recently reconstructed design which has created quite a nice and elegant atmosphere to dine in. Overall, I highly recommend August 8th as it has become one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the Hamilton area. - Order: Seaweed salad, salmon teriyaki, crab handroll, spicy seafood udon, sponge cake, unagi sushi, dragon roll, salmon roll
