  • "In the Rawsome world you don’t do without… you do WITH!!"
I can't say I agree with WOW's menu statement. Let's put this into context: I'm a vegetarian and my partner is 'vegeprefarian' (i.e. eats mostly vegetarian, simply because he likes it -- or maybe a vegetarian who likes steak?). But the dishes served up at WOW, although obviously lovingly prepared, leave much to be desired. If you are a raw foodist, though, you may have a much better experience than us.

An initial response to reading through the menu suggests that all the dishes are minor variations on the same theme: greens, raw tomatoes, raw red onions, mélange of sprouted seeds. Some have marinated vegetables, some have cashew 'cheese'. Unfortunately for me, I'm a picky eater: I don't like raw tomatoes or onions. In raw cuisine, these appear to be the two predominate flavour-boosting ingredients. "Uh-oh," I thought. For diners that don't have these qualms, you have a much larger selection than I was. Alas!

My partner decided to have the Mediterranean Pizza, which consisted of a crust of assorted seeds, a layer of cashew 'cheese' and various marinated vegetables including onions, mushrooms, peppers, and cauliflower. It was nicely prepared, but he felt that it didn't have a lot of flavour. This was served with a side salad mainly of lettuce and carrots.

Seeing that there really wasn't much for me, I decided to go straight for dessert. A light lunch, perhaps. So I ordered the apple crumble with cashew 'ice cream'. It wasn't horrible --far from it-- but certainly left me looking for more. The crumble was a mince of apple and berries, topped with a soft 'crumble' of seeds. I felt it needed an extra dose of sweet (then again, I have a major sweet tooth), but what my biggest problem with it was its lack of any textural interest. It was just kind of.... there. Kind of bland, no pleasing crunch. The 'ice cream' was definitely not my cup of tea: in small doses it reminded us of a softer, frozen halva. But eating it in any quantity was kind of like eating a spoonful of peanut butter from the jar: a pasty, slightly chalky and powerful mouth-feel, without much sweetness. I did like the strawberry garnish, though!

My partner decided to order the cheese cake, was made with a crust of nuts and a filling of ground seeds topped with fruit. It had a nice flavour but was a little too rich for his taste. He wants me to also mention the jugs of water -- he thought the slices of cucumber were a nice touch. I had a nice cup of rooibos tea.

Together, we found this meal not particularly filling, leaving us craving a proper source of carbs. (Yup: no wheat, rice, potato or any other starch here!) The rest of our party agreed, and we stuffed our faces with all-you-can-eat sushi in the evening.

Service is adequate but friendly. The décor is your standard hippie-chic with a flair for the 'Eat Pray Love' angle; the large window lets in plenty of natural light and the establishment is sparklingly clean.

  • Order: Apple crumble, Mediterranean pizza, Cheese cake, Tea

  • I went there on my 25th birthday for the first time and I can't imagine anywhere else I would want to spend my 26th or 27th :P

The food is ALWAYS amazing and the desserts require a take home box because they can't be passed up on!

They are so eco friendly they even put towels in the bathroom....now that is just awesome!

I guess whatever I say isn't as important as GOING there and seeing it for yourself!

  • Order: Portabello Walnut Croquet, Green Drink, Date Square (which I will fight people over cause they are so freakin' good) LOL

  • Vegan. Organic. Everything cooked under 100 degrees. Very slow service. Yeah, we had 6 people, but I STILL think 2 hours is too long to wait for food. There was only 1 other table there. The prices were too high, we were hungrier after we left than when we got there.

That all being said, the food was good. If you go there planning to spend a couple hours chatting, and eat a light, nutritious meal, this place is for you. Otherwise, steer clear.

  • Order: 5 years ago, can't remember.

  • Wow Organic Way has help me out alot. I buy my meals every day from there. In the past I had a food disorder problem. I have hard time digesting my food. I have no problems with wow food. The owner helps me select the right foods. I use to be stress out because was always getting sick when I eat but with wow food it is easy to digest. I recommend eating their if you have stomach problems. I am adiffernt person. I do not think it is expensive for the food you get it is organic. You could not buy organic food and make it for cheaper. The service is great. They treat you like a part of their family. They care. I would not no want to do without wow.
