Where do you start.
Poor selection, over priced, invisible staff, erratic pricing. Are the breads frozen, pre-baked?
Those are definitely NOT Montreal style bagels.
Don't know how they are still in business.

I live close by, so I frequently stop in if I fancy something special.
Great selection of items, from basic breads to fancy desserts. I love that Lucie caters to the gluten-free market, and stocks many different varieties of deli items from both local and imported sources.
Price ranges from outrageous to reasonable depending on what you're buying. Some items I never buy simply because they are so expensive, but keeping in mind that everything is hand made I understand a little bit.
The only complaint I have is the service. They never seem to have enough staff on. Every time I go in I have to wait at least 5 minutes at the cash desk for someone to come ring me through - usually because all staff are either baking in the back, or serving someone else. They need to make sure they have someone at the cash desk at all times.
Overall, one of the best bakeries I have ever been to!

I LOVE Lucie's!!!!
Not only will they make just about anything you can think of if you pre-order it (including home-made croissants) but they also have a huge variety of different items. The bagels are hand-rolled fresh every single morning and always made from scratch, absolutely delicious! The best thing is that if you for some reason don't like something, just tell them and usually they'll offer you something else to try! - Order: Breakfast Sandwich on Bagel

Terrible Bagels!
Lucie's advertises that they make/sell Montreal style bagels. Perhaps they have never been to Montreal or tasted a St. Viateur bagel (which, by the way, you can buy at Metro in Guelph), but they will charge you an arm and a leg for an awful bagel with a measely amount of cream cheese. The atmosphere is drab and crowded and the service is always surly. NOT RECOMMENDED.

If you haven't tried Lucie's bagels, you don't know what a bagel is supposed to taste like. Get some of the cream cheese she has on sale as well, don't ruin it with regular cream cheese. She even has a home made smoked salmon cream cheese with dill and real smoked salmon. The perogies are amazing and usually ready to go smothered in sauteed onions. Mmmmm. On holiday weekends she does cupcake painting for the kids as well which they just love. Can't recommend Lucie's bakery highly enough!

The bagels and tortiere were amazing - best in region and definitely homemade. The bread was also really terrific but you have to get Lucie's own. They have the typical Zehrs type breads but also some of the best 'from scratch' breads around. (First time there I had to ask for the home made breads because they are less prominantly displayed). Lucie's homemade tortiere was just like I remember it from childhood - I'm totally hooked! Lucie's cheese selection is also really good and there are always interesting new local foods being brought in.
My only suggestion with Lucie's is that I wouldn't bother with the Zehrs type breads and the boring cookies. Also, they really should try to reduce their packaging - give me a brown paper bag anytime. I can't tell who they are trying to market to (the organic Quebec cheeses and gorgeous jams and other products and the pre-frozen breads don't go together so well). Decide your market and drop the few things you carry that aren't 100% amazing. There is so much in this deli that is being done right!
I also find the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable.

I love lucies bakery! its very good. The service was excellent. They have young children working there, who are very pleasent. Not the old snobby ladies who just want you to buy stuff and get out. Lucie, is a very pleasant lady and always tries to please everybody. If you recommend something, she will go out of her way and try to find whatever you are looking for.
I love this bakery and its around my neighbour hood. very homey place. and i love going there with my young children. the bakery always has these cute smile cookies to give to my kids.Lucie, her daughters, and an assitance manager Tiffany are very good people to deal with. if u wanna talk to someone about something, i recommend to talk to anyone of those people.
