China Buffet

This place closed a while back. It was once part of a chain of China Buffets. Like the others, it was a cheap and very low-end buffet restaurant. The food quality was quite poor, as was the service. Egg foo yung always consisted of plain scrambled eggs, and desserts tended to be stale. The quality of food was uniformly bad. The only reason I returned from time to time was because it was so cheap.

It is pretty bad when the coke you order if the best part of your meal. The food was discusting, there wasn't anything we liked. It also grossed us out that the shrimp were floating around in water instead of ice (which had long melted). We ended up paying for the meal and going to the McDonalds next door. I definitely do not suggest trying this place... it was the worst food ever.

If I could give this place less than an overall rating of one I would! I used to visit this place once a week but since I had a piece of rusted metal stuck into my mouth while eating the noodles I will never return!!! The waitress didn't even give me my meal for free, just a discount which I was happy to pay just so that I could get out of there and to the hospital for a tetnus shot. My suggestion would be to eat somewhere else in Guelph!

Disappointing first visit.
Food was substandard even for buffet. Tried everything, had to resort to the same few dishes that were palatable.
Service was normal enough, nothing special.
Our party was there due to bowling plans that night.
Unless I hear a good word or someone's treating me, will not go back just yet.

Some changes have been made to this restaurant, food changes in the buffet as well as making the dinning room smaller. The last few times I have been there have been awful and I used to enjoy this restaurant. They have lost a customer unfortunatly even though the prices are great and the service is excellent, the food is no good anymore.

Frankly, I was quite surprised by the wide variety of food, large, decent place and the incredible price. It doesn't make sense for me to go to McDonald's where a China buffet like this is nearby. If you want to spend less than 10 bucks eating out, this is the best one I certainly will choose.

We were in the process of moving to Guelph when we tried this restaurant out. We were starved when we went in. The food was truly horrible. Tasteless, dried out, unimaginative. Very poor selection, too. After trying this Chinese buffet, and another bad one in town, Tony joked about moving out of Guelph. Thankfully, we've found a few decent eating establishments since then.

The key portion of China Buffet is "Buffet." Anyone who comes here to order off the menu is missing the point - the point is the incredibly inexpensive buffet, which gives you unlimited amounts of whichever entree strikes your fancy. The service, naturally, barely speaks English and can do little more than bring water, but this is to be expected. Only the ultra-pretentious or the sad menu-ordered will miss the undeniable charm and value of this little place.

I can have enough ballanced nutrisious food to enjoy
with a reasonable price.
