  • This used to be our favourite place. Someone got the bright idea to change the menu. Veal Parm is NOT Greek. The hummus is horrible now and the food mediocre. We won't be back.

  • We have been to Cafe many times. Including Rehearsal Dinners and Confirmations. We were really impressed with this placed when we moved here in 2003 however the place has gone down hill. This last time was the last straw. We were shoved in the corner booth near the bathroom, when the dining room was almost empty. Our appetizers were stale and so-so. When our entrees showed up after 45 minutes our childrens meals were wrong. Our server just hmmphed at us walked away with their plates. We had to share our meals with the kids because the server could not tell us how long it would take to replace their meals and it was later in the evening we did not want to find somewhere else to go. The place was EMPTY. When the 4 of us were done and our bill came, the kids meals were still on the bill and they never came!! NEVER AGAIN.

  • I had found this restaurant after reading some reviews on the site. the majority were positive, especially when it came to the food, so our group decided to give it a try. wow! we loved it!

I live in Toronto, and often visit my friends in Guelph, so I've been to quite a few restaurants in the area. The Greek Garden was by far the best, in my experience.

The atmosphere was buzzing, which we welcomed, because we wanted a fun night out. although a little loud at times, it's understandable, considering how busy the place was that night. we ordered a couple saganaki cheese apps, which were lit on fire in front of our table. it was contagious. every table around us looked over and started ordering the same thing. before you knew it, flames were popping up and "opa" was being yelled out from everywhere. it was pretty funny.

The food was great. if this place was in Toronto's Greek Town, it would be packed all the time. The Greek food was awesome, the portions were huge, which was in true Greek fashion and the prices were rock bottom. I couldn't beleive that they charge the prices they do at this place. I was freaking out! I had the Ribs, which aren't exactly the most Greek dish in the world, but they were amazing! an entire rack, with rice, veggies, and a salad for something like $20. ridiculous! Others at the table had the souvlaki meal, which was just as big and was priced at around $16....lol...unreal. We had some traditional apps, like dips, and spanakopita, which were similar to other restaurants, but just cheaper. As far as food, my the only thing I didn't like too much was the hummous. it was a little dry. Too many chickpeas. Otherwise, we loved everything about our meal.

Our waitress was sweet, but seemed a little frazzled because of how busy she was. I couldn't imagine, nor would I ever want to, have been in her place that night. I would have pulled my hair out.

We all loved the place and are definitely going back next time we're in Guelph.

  • I like the food.. it can be expensive though. Everyone says that the food was better before, and their portions were better before. My friend was charged the wrong price and ended up paying more than double for the cost of her food. She wasn't given her visa receipt, and because we were being rushed out the door, she didn't bother asking for it. The service needs improving.

  • This is one of my favorite restaurants in Guelph. The food is always good. It's not gourmet but it's very simple and very tasty Greek-style food. The souvlaki meals are great.
The decor inside is very nice, the staff is friendly and overall just a great place to eat. I go a lot and on rare occassions the service has been slow but usually the food comes out very fast. I love this place.

  • Thanks for ruining our valentines day.
My husband and I made a reservation over a month ago for valentines day and we specifically asked for a booth. We arrive at the restaurant and are seated in the very back of the lower level and an incredibly small table that had a solid wall almost touching me on the left, another second small table within an inch away from my right and a group of 10 sitting behind us, their chairs an inch away from mine. I could barely move my chair out to sit down! I suffer from anxiety attacks and get claustrophobic in tight areas like this. I have to take sedatives when I go on an airplane and this seating was just as bad.

We asked the host at the front to be moved to a booth and he refused to help us even though there were 3 booths open, he claimed they were being set for other people, never mind the fact that these people are not there yet and we had a 6:30 reservation booked far in advance. He also ignored us when we walked in the door and sat two groups of people who had walked in without a reservation ahead of us.

When our waitress FINALLY came over we asked her about a booth and she disappeared for a few minutes. When she came back she informed us that we could have a booth but would have to wait for an HOUR. I told her that I cannot sit in this tight space because I get claustrophobic and that we reserved a booth weeks ago. She still said we would have to wait for an hour even though we had a reservation and people were being seated just walking in off the street. We walked out and will never go back.

  • Well I would just like to start by saying that I love the food at the greek garden. I don't know if its just the things that I typically order, but I have never been dissapointed going there.

Our server was very freindly, helpful and knowledgable. I was with two people who had never been and they had some questions regarding the menu. She responded to all of their queries very well.

We had braved a saturday night on this trip to The Greek Garden and as usual it was busy. But still I found everything to be great (service wise). The only this that bothered me about our night was the owner or manager (I'm assuming) repremanding some of the servers while they were trying to do their jobs the best they could. Having served before I know what kind of stress this can put on you when working a busy night. As a grown man and a business owner I think he should know better and should think about conducting himself in a more professional manner.

But other than that, everything was great. I'll be returning for sure.

  • It was BUSY and it looked like they were short staffed because my server seemed to be doing about eight or ten tables. One of which was a larger sized party. I understood that she was stretched for time and we weren't in any rush and I let her know that. She was still VERY accommodating and really didn't take too long for anything we requested. The one thing that put me off was what seemed to be the owner YELLING at his servers. Clearly I could see that they were trying very hard that night, and I did over hear some of what he was grouching about and really, it seemed like PETTY things. Unfortunately, this makes me not want to fill this man's pockets with our money. If he doesn't support his staff, why should I support his business? It wasn't just ONE waitress, I watched him do it to at least THREE. There were only FIVE working for this night.

The food was alright, nothing to rave about. My server told me that wait times were going to be a bit longer and I appreciated the honesty. The Karyae was alright, but the feta on it was sparse. The lamb chops were alright, but I believe I have had those vegetables many times before. Maybe they should switch it up? I think the best thing I enjoyed were the noodles that came with the Karyae. The rolo cake even seemed like it was freezer burnt or something.

When I saw this owner (I think) yell at my waitress, I wanted to tell him off as she was doing EXCELLENT in my opinion for the amount of tables she was doing. She never had empty hands and was constantly on the go yet wasn't all out frazzled. She still seemed quite calm under pressure.

That man's yelling really put me off though. He was seating people and barely helping any of the wait staff with anything but making them flustered by giving them a hard time.

Unfortunate that people still have to work in those conditions. I don't think I will be back, just because of him. Anger management and courtesy courses could do a lot for that man.

  • We've been eating here for YEARS. We're even on a first name basis with their main delivery guy. But I gotta say, I have been noticing that the quality of the food has gone downhill. My husband always orders the dinner portion of the souvlaki...it came with only one kabob: Puh-lease. Since when did one of their most popular dishes become a rip off? I always get the Chicken Santorini: A grilled ch.breast with aspargus and seafood in a cream sauce on top, covered in melted cheese. I think the asparugus had been microwaved for about 15 minutes. It was so Stringy and chewy, and this is not the first time. The last three times we've eaten there we've gone because "maybe our last experience was just a fluke, and they were having an off day". We can't assume that anymore. The poor food quality has been consistent lately. It's not an expensive restaurant, but it's not some cheap fast food joint either. But the food is seeming...crappy.
The three dip platter comes with a serving of pita wedges, hummus, taramosalata, and tzatiki. The pita's were all stale. And the taramosalata wasn't the greatest.
    In short, we've given up.
We won't be going back, or ordering out from there again. From now, if it's greek we want, we go to the Adonis.
We've given up on the Greek Garden.
