You will honestly never ever find a restaurant as amazing as marukins, i have tried many sushi restaurants from windsor to ottawa and even in england, nothing compares to his fresher then fresh sushi and sashimi, every dish he prepares (which he does prepare himself almost 100% of the time!) is the most amazing thing you have ever tasted. i am sad he moved to tecumseh, we used to go there at least 3 times a week but comming form kingsville its almost a full hour drive to him now, so were lucky with once a week:< but still worth the trip!

I am a local in small town Essex, and this restaurant was around for years before I ever took the time to try Japanese cuisine. Long story short, this is by far my favorite place to eat. The portions are exceptionally generous, prices low to moderate, and oh sooo delicious!!
Since being familliar with Japanese food, I have tried numerous other restaurants in and around the windsor area, surprisingly all with disapointment. Sushi is always better and less expensive at Marukin. The OWNER of the establishment is actually present at all times, personally prepares all sushi, and obviously takes great pride in all that is served. Unlike those places where everything is microwaved by punk kids paid $8 an hour, unsupervised, and hate their job, which unfortunately seems to be most common these days.

You might be surprised to find the best sushi in the Windsor-area at Ben Marukin's in the town of Essex (about 20 minutes from downtown Windsor). I eat here with friends about eight times a year and the sushi is always excellent, with creative designs and local flavour thrown in. Admittedly,I've never had anything else from the menu, but with sushi this good.... The service is very good too, without being intrusive.

I've been to a couple of sushi places now and Marukin was the best bang for the buck. I don't mind spending more for sushi b/c you want quality when consuming raw fish. Still, the presentation and quality of our nagiri/maki was as good as any other with a wonderful taste and a price HALF of what I pay in London or elsewhere. The service was friendly and the miso soup was the best yet.

I always go to Marukin for their amazing Sushi. I live in Windsor and it is well worth the drive to Essex for the Sushi.

Best sushi you will find in the county. Worth the drive if you are coming from Windsor. Call a couple days in advance and ask for the blue crab, it is definitely a dish to try.
