ABSOLUTELY A WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE.
I have been a many restaurants in North America and Europe, I've got to say that this one is one of the best. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was wonderful. I noticed that the server had a particular europian flare, very knowlegable on food and wine. The music was a nice touch, I felt like I was in Italy
Looking forward to going back
TO THE REVIEWER BELOW:
1st, Romanoff is not made with any type of cake, it's simply made with fruit, obviously if you knew much about food you would know that. 2nd, if a salad is included in the meal it's a plus, I would say that 99% of the restaurants in essex county area do not offer salads with the meal, its usually alla carte. Therefore by asking for a discount on the salad indicates that you don't go out much to dine. Mentioning another restaurant in this review tells readers that you obviously work there. From what you said you ate, it looks like the two items were the cheapest on the menu, which tells me that your review does not have much merit. - Order: Grilled Calamari, Stuffed eggplant, penne pesto,

I was quite surprised when I had entered into Divino's. We were greeted somwhat by the owner Mario. There wasn't a friendly hello, but a sit where ever you want. When ordering, I asked what came with the pasta dishes and was told, you get salad and bread. After the order, Mario came out with the salad, which I did not care for and asked if I could have a ceasar salad instead, he said sure for an additional charge, which I kind of knew since most places charge a dollar extra for a ceasar salad. When asked how much more he proceeded to tell me $6.00 more. I told him, no thank you, I am not paying six dollars for a ceasar salad and he continues to tell me"well it costs us three dollars to make it fresh." so he was going to charge me 6 even though it was only costing him three less the salad I should have originally got so thats when I should have only been charged a dollar or two more. So.......I never got a salad at all, so by right, he should have taken the difference off my bill, but no..................so than the dinners came out, I had gnocci and my friend had rigatonni, both pasta's were ok, not great, I have had better but not real bad either. You don't get much for the price you pay. We then ordered dessert, which we were told they had strawberry romanoff. Which to me is like a sponge cake with custard, whipped cream, strawberries and almonds etc............so we order this because it was a favorite of mine, come to my surprise, we got strawberries and ice cream, when asked why this is call strawberry romanoff, Mario gave me some weird explanation (sounded made up really) of why it is called that and he said, that I wanted strawberry cake romanoff. I have never heard of any other kind of romanoff ever, but apparently there is. I can say that I will never go back. First of all this was my first time there and I was not wowed by the owner at all. I could not believe he was arguing with me about a flipping salad. I should have gotten one anyway and now I was going to be charged the full amount for a ceasar salad. I just could not understand that, so I had no salad and still paid for it. The first impression is a lasting one and this will stay with me forever. I will not recommend Divino's to anyone ever. I should have stayed with my first choice of Riccardo's in Amherstburg, next time I will know better.
- Order: gnocci, rigatonni, strawberry romanoff (strawberries and ice cream)

Well truly a fine dinning experience without all the stuffiness, your hosts Mario Rosa and Joe (family members) truly cook and serve for you with all their heart. The advantages of the owners being on the front line are obvious to that of spectacular food with the best service ever, even being a smaller locale, Divino's Trattoria is truly a dining experience with simple pasta dishes to extravagant dishes compiled by Chef Joseph, and with the simple vino della casa to a great bottle of Brunello di Montalcino served by Maitre De/Waiter extrodinar Mario your dinning experience will be a memorable one for sure.
I highly recommend this restaurant, nicely nestle in the downtown core of Essex. - Order: Antipasto Misto, the Mozzarrella di Buffola is to die for The Lamb chops are succulent, and the Salmon is delectable My wife loves the Luna di Luna, I prefer Masi or a nice Amarrone my self All the desserts are special but you must try the Creme Brulle and the Espresso is the best in Essex county also a fine selection of Liqueurs and after dinner drinks very reasonable

This was a nice restaurant, with good food and service. The food portions were a little small for the price, but it wasn't too bad. Chocolate was given to us as it was valentines day; it was a nice gesture.

We have been regulars at Divino since it opened. The owner Mario is always delightful, the food is fantastic.... much better than Spago and the setting is much more welcoming. Love the live entertainment, homemade desserts and the staff are always friendly. We have recommended Divino to several friends and co-workers.... our Itatian friends say the Gnocchi is better then Nonna's !
