A-1 Chinese Food

I drive from Windsor to Essex JUST for A-1!! They have hands down the best food and a generous amount of it!
It's the only place I've tried that has large pieces of chicken in their chicken balls.
My husband didn't care for his honey ribs. He said they were WAY too dry. (otherwise I would've rated my review 5 stars on the food)

My daughter and I had the beef and broccoli until her serving had hair cooked into it. The owner just laughed it off and said "Well at least it's not red!" What the hell does that mean?! No apology or offer to compensate. All nite long waitresses enter and exit the kitchen without hairnets. Good job health unit! Business is good so they don't give a sh-- about a few unsatisfied customers.

We have been going to A-1 for many, many, many years and have never been disappointed. The food is great and the service is terrific! It's not fancy, but the food id delicious and the people are very friendly. Hard to believe anyone would have anything negative to say about this restaurant...some people's standards and expectations must be OFF THE CHART! Great place and nicer people.

We go here whenever we are craving Chinese food. It is very clean and they have very fast and efficient service. Take-out is always quick. Based on the amount of food given for the price most items are a great value.

I have to disagree with a previous review, it is definitely not premium food but rather standard Canadian style Chinese food.. However, it is always hot and overall tastes good. Some menu items such as the chop suey are very bland. As it is a buffet restaurant, you can tell that the food is all cooked in very large quantities and not made to order.

I asked for chicken lo mien with NO bean sprouts and when the plate came to me it had bean sprouts. I asked them to fix my order, and the waitress took the plate and the chef removed the bean sprouts and returned it to me and the waitress told me the chef refused to make a new order for me and that he removed the sprouts and it should be fine now. I almost went crazy. I WON'T

Ruined our Mother's day dinner. I had made reservations a week ahead and when we got their they looked their sticky notes over (great way to keep records) and found no record of my reservation. I was pissed, they said "sorry" and left us standing there not knowing what to do. They didn't even offer a discount on a return visit. We left and went to MAY MAY RESTAURANT IN KINGSVILLE, treated like kings, delicious food and so much extra we had to take it home. Lesson learned, if you make a reservation get a name!

The worst "customer service" in the business. A successful buffet business, but terrible customer service and phone skills - the worst in the restaurant business we've ever experienced. I guess when you get sufficiently busy you can mistreat even your regular customers.

Instead of accepting our order pleasantly, phone staff chastized me for for substituting on a dinner for 2. (there is 1.50 charge for substitutions, which I was more than comfortable paying). When I called to speak with the owner, and I was very polite but frustrated with how I'd been treated, he hung up rudly. I phoned back to inquire as to why he would hang up and he refused apology and argued that they were not rude.

We will never again support this local restaurant or any affiliated with it.

This is premium food for a resionable price!!
Ive been testing diffent asian foods and different tecniques of eating and this little place in essex takes the cake. GO THERE!!!!
