Smilees Rib & Steakhouse

I want to say a little something to this alwaysbeing fare loser. Smilee is still smiling more than you know. You are clearly a piece of work that does not know food. I owned Smilee's and I can tell you that I am still smiling and catering more than you can dream of. If you have a problem I encourage you to call me anytime buddy and I will be happy to set you straight. my number is in the book. WE WILL BE REOPENING IN THE NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! What do you think of that? Just so you know, that cheap material on the boothes cost 67 dollars per yard, thats more than you obviously make in a day, so if you ever think that you can operate a restaurant better than I did, I'd love to see you try. I did it for seven years, let's see you try.

brad dinning AKA Mr. Smilee

Smilliees is not smiling any more. They have closed up shop. Too many rules broken during its operation -- from the cheap stapled fabric chairs, to inconsistent quality of food, to the "chef" smoking in front of the restaurant, among many other things. Bye-bye.

Both my husband and I are Chef's and before moving to Ontario, we owned a 4 star Italian eatery in Vancouver. Because of our 23 combined professional cooking history, we only dine out once a year and thats for our anniversay. Never in our 15 years of marrige have we experenced something this terrible.

After receiving our wilted and gritty salad, very salty soup and over cooked shrimp my husband said "well the main course should be interesting"

My husbands chicken was spongy and the (what I believe to be) cream sauce was very bland.

I ordered steak (which was on the light side of the menu printed pre-cooked weight) was to be medium. The steak turned out to be well done and the very little sauce which was drizzled was not enough to add moisture to the very dry meat. The sauce also had a bitter taste to it.

Would not surprise me at all if the kitchen staff was a handful of high school kids on minimum wage and maybe someone with line experience but no training at all. I think the idea was there but the deliver was half assed at best.

The very young waitress was missing for most of our experience. We informed the older man who seated us of our displeasure and his only response was to say "but you already started eating it"

If patrons were only to look and the food to be satified, then Harvey's would be the first 5 star fast food place!!!

My wife and I had heard a few good comments about Smileys, so we decided to give it a try. The salad came first and upon arriving I saw that the lettuce was brown and wilted. I mentioned this to the waiter (he turned out to be the owner), he told me that it was the only lettuce that they had and that he was sorry. I thought to myself that this was odd. The real disappointing part was when my wife got up to use the washroom. When she got up from the booth seat the staples that were supposed to be holding together the cheap velvet that covered the seats ripped her dress. After this happened needless to say I was furious and decieded to cancel the orders and leave. All the owner said was "I'm sorry." I really couldn't believe that the seats were covered with velvet and had staples on them, who does that? I can honestly say that this was the worst dinning experience I have ever had. It was so bad we didn't even make it to the food.

this restaurant was recommended to us by friends, it doesn't look like much from the outside and the decor was a little lacking but the service and food were both phenomenal. the mussels were incredibly fresh, the owner mentioned they were flown in that morning. everything else was fantastic as well, we will definetely make the hour-long drive to go there again

Hands down the best food that I have had in years. The Owner had to be the best server that I have ever had. He took his time to explain the food product, a little information about the chef, and recommended some of the items that his patrons have truly enjoyed in the past. He was 100% right, the food was amazing. This is why people in Chatham need to wake up and smell the food because Smilee's is the best.

The best food any where!

I am from the east coast, my wife and I moved here to Chatham 3 years ago. I have not had good seafood since we left until we stopped at this little restaurant that is hidden away in a strip mall on St.Clair Street. From the steak being cooked to perfection, the sauces that the chef made for over top of the lobster, and the texture of the seafood was better than home. We will be returning

We met Brad (the owner) at a wedding that Brad absolutely rocked, and immediately got along with him. He told us that the food was the best but he owned the place so of course he would say that. My wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary with a group of 10 of us. Every single person ordered something different off of the menu and everyone mixed and matched foods. I am telling you, I am a 300 pound man that loves to eat. I was stuffed, the food was the best that I have ever had. I am employed by a multi national corporation and I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and I tell you that smilee's Rib and Steak House is up there as one of the best restaurant that I have ever enjoyed. The entire party enjoyed everything and I will be bringing a lot of people back to experience this food.

My wife and I heard several good comments about the quality and service of the food at Smilies . We were told that the resterant was a cosy upper scale place to enjoy a wonderful meal . Upon entering the resterant we were a little dissapointed , the interior was like a step back in time ( High Class Roadhouse ) . The booth''s were small , the tables didn''t match and looked really cheap , the table cloth had stains and what appeared to be crumbs on it . We were greated by a man who introduced himself as the owner , he appeared to be very personable . We ordered a Ceasar Salad for appertiser and a Bottle of Yellow Tail Shiraz . The main course was a Filet for my wife and myself ( rare for me and medium for my wife ) a baked potatoe and side vegtable .( While waiting I visited the rest room it was a mess) . The ceasar salad was served , the presentation was average , when eating the salad the lettus was gritty ( like crunching on sand ) needless to say one mouthful was enough . The main course arrived , the presentation was average again the meal appeared to just be thrown on the plate . My filet was medium well ( I ordered rare ) my wife''s filet was well done ( she ordered medium ) . We were dissapointed , we rarely complain but decided to mention it to the young man ( the owner ) . Well this personable owner turned into an ignorant , rude person in a real hurry . About ten minutes passed and this rude person returned to the table and had the nerve to ask if would like desert . We politely declined and asked for the bill . There was one high point in the meal , the Yellow Tail Shiraz was fantastic .
We will NEVER dine at Smilies again and would NEVER recomend it to anyone .
