Red Basil

Excellent food. I have always had good service because I tend to go a bit early rather than at their busiest time. The shrimp curry and the crispy chicken with peanut sauce are delicious. I have had curry at a lot of restaurants, and it is the best I've found. Just the perfect amount of heat. I am the type of person who likes to try something new every time I go to a restaurant, but those 2 dishes are so good I find myself ordering them repeatedly. I also love the fresh spring rolls and order them every time. I think this is the best restaurant in downtown Cambridge.

I have been there a couple of times for lunch. The food is good, and the price is very reasonable. The duck is particularly good.

My only big complaint is the consistently slow service. They are understaffed during the lunch period, and it really slows things down. On the last occasion, people were leaving because it took so long for the one waitress to serve them. Then, the waitress got yelled at by her boss, and she spent the next half hour crying as she worked. It was uncomfortable.

me and my dad went there in the summer for lunch and i think its under rated. people always talk about the other viet-thai restaurants but this one is pretty good too and different. it might be the location that people arent aware of here.
my dad got pho and i got chicken pad thai. mine was good too many veg for my liking tho like giant pieces of it. and i got an avocado shake (my fav) and it was very big.
the restaurant was long and narrow and very busy/full. there were only two girls working and did a good job were efficient but didnt have time to talk to you.
i think i would go there again if i were downtown in the good weather.

Ordered the above as take out and while waiting decided to have coffee. I was informed that it was done Vietnamese style , brewed at table with condensed milk on the bottom , different but what a lovely treat!

Got home and the food was wonderful , though I might try one of the other sauce choices instead of orange for the crispy roasted chicken.

One minor glitch , though the sauce for the rolls was lovely itself , why no fish sauce ?
