Review: This little place rawks! We live in Galt and go when we can for a great meal. The food is a bit more Equidorian or Southern Mexican but no matter - it's wonderful. I appreciate the homemade fresh cheese and salsa verde. We've even been lucky enough to score some tamales (but only once so far).

Review: Since recently moving to the area (as in the country), I have desperately wanted some Mexican food and while I don't think I have a good grasp on what "good Mexican" is because of the broadness of styles and regions and the introduction of tex-mex, this place has something I've been looking for. Other than plain lard/beans/corn products/meat smothered in cheese and salsa (which I love) or haute lard/beans/corn products/meat smothered in less cheese and more salsa/cilantro/lime/guacomole (which I also love), there was some serious flavor here. The pozole was absolutely new to me, and the interplay of salty pork and hominy with fresh veggies mixed in after cooking was a very satisfying experience. The real winner was the mole; it's faintly bitter, cocoa flavor mingled nicely with the corn tortilla and chicken. The beans were mashed black beans (with little taste of lard) and the cheese was used sparingly, but had a creamy, salty taste.
The service was lovely and I was embarrassed when one person there apologized for how small the room is. When people do something that they believe in and do it with heart and with love (like I think the ladies there do), the result is some iteration of perfection, despite the package in which it comes. Actually, the package may just help other reviewers' claims that this place is really worth the effort.
- Order: pozole (soup), enchiladas con mole

Review: I love this little "hole in the wall" When it first opened I went in and loved the part that the owner had trouble with English. Her English has since improved but I felt that there was a little Mexico in Cambridge. Yes I realize it is the size of a broom closet but it makes up for it in the home cooked authentic Mexican food. I just love going there.

Review: Another rebuttal to "Think Twice" , what this place lacks in seating and twee atmosphere it makes up for in good honest authentic food. I would hate to think that anyone would be put off this place for one review based on Taco Bell type expectations. I have been many times and will return as often as I can.
They also sell a few choice import items , do not be afraid to try interesting and hard to find items for your own cooking pleasure.

Review: Please disregard the ignorant review posted by "Think twice before going"; if you enjoy real Mexican Food, you will love El Rinconcito...
I moved from Mexico 8 years ago and had been looking for a place where I could eat the food I miss so much, and I must say, I hadn't been able to find a place that truly resembled the rich taste of real Mexican food (even in the GTA), until we came across El Rinconcito, and we have been eating there at least twice a month ever since... I can't believe the number of people from Mexico we have met at the restaurant who eat there for the exact same reasons. Yes, the place is small, but it is all part of the whole "cenaduria" experience...
Advice when you visit El Rinconcito: Get out of your comfort zone and try something truly Mexican like Flautas, Sopes or Tacos; you will not regret it..! For the complete experience, have your meal with a Mexican soda pop like "Jarritos" or "Sangría Señorial", also available there...

Review: Mr. "Think twice before going", You must be looking for changed up American style Mexican. I assure you, I brought my sister in law who is Mexican and she says it is auth. and yes its not all that goowy, mess of tacos and such. Real Mexican has simple flavors and meat with simple toppings. Not all jumbled up junk in side so you cant taste the meat.
We have different food every time and its hot, tasty and not at all bland. If your looking for American style tacos and burritos go to taco bell. This is the real deal people!
PS: and yes these types of wonderful "store side homemade food with a few tables inside" is what you will find in Mexico and El Salvadore all over the place! - Order: Burritos and Enchiladas

Review: After reading multiple reviews on how great the food was decided to make a trip with 2 coworkers. First, this place is the size of a broom closet, good luck finding a seat. Second, I've seriously had better food at Taco Bell. Bland, no seasoning right out of the box or can. There was nothing authentic about the place. Dont waste your time.
- Order: Chicken burrito with rice and beans.
- LOVE IT!

Review: I used to live in San Diego and we had great Mexican food at our finger tips. When I came back to Waterloo I thought the best I could hope for was Taco Bell (sad eh?). A young lady came to our office on a temporary assignment and introduced us to El Rinconcito Mexicano. REAL MEXICAN!!! I'm so happy. It's become a weekly ritual for myself and some of my coworkers to go there for lunch. Can't wait to introduce it to my husband. He's gonna love it too!

Review: The food was great and excellent value. Very genuine. The other reviews understate the lack of ambiance. You wouldn't go there for a "dining experience", though. You go there for the excellent food. Would definitely come back.
- Order: Burrito, Enchilada (I think), Tacos
