2nd. visit & a little disappointing the bun on the chicken cordon bleu was stale, tasteless & fell apart. The ceaser salad was ok. Music was a little loud for lunch time. The waitress was great.

We were told this restaurant wasn't as good as it used to be, but we decided to risk it and go recently. We were very disappointed and will not be going back. My husband's pasta was very overcooked - it was also without the meat as he is vegetarian. They didn't offer and would not discount the full price for either reason. My dinner was the chicken - it was very ordinary.
- Order: Vegetarian version of their pasta and chicken, beer.

The calamari was rubbery, salty and lacked any real taste, I have had much better calamari for less than the $8.00 this appetizer cost. The french onion soup was run of the mill, not very hot.
The chicken dish despite being covered with approx 1/2 inch of fat was still amazingly dry and tasteless. The prime rib was covered with gravey not the usual "a jus" and was tough. The choices with the prime rib were mashed potatos, or french fries or rice, no baby potatos or baked potato choice.
All in all despite a beautiful room, the meal itself was very disappointing, and to top it all off the tea was not even hot! Definitely would not go back or recommend this to any one.
- Order: calamri, french onion soup, mediterian stuffed chicken, prime rib

This place is a gem. This is the kind of place that all those pop-commercial restaurants try to mimic unsuccessfully by gluing old yard sale items to the wall in a vain attempt to look historical.
Caf? 13 has classic, historical charm, a 1920's meets 1950's jazzy feel. Just the right amount of lighting coloured by some stained glass creates a pleasurable dining atmosphere. The warm brick interior with beautiful tarnished brass accents that you know have been there for a century gives you a confidence in Caf? 13?s authenticity.
An over all simple menu, English pub inspired, but approached with lighter steps. Marvelous sandwiches and wraps, excellent fries and salads are among a chef designed but affordable menu. Rather than painfully trying to create one more new spin on the free bread appetizer, Cafe 13 provides a charming little pickle tray.
Fortunately, I can't tell you about the steaks as I'm not one to partake. They look great across the table though.
I hope that too many people don't discover this great little gem for fear that it too may fall prey to glossy commercialism that it has thus far avoided. Still, go have a look for yourself.

I live across the street from the cafe. My boyfriend and I love it! Everytime we have visitors to Cambridge, its the first place we take them! Awesome food, casual yet fine dining, with a warm and inviting atmosphere! Make sure you check out the third floor!!!
