  • The restaurant was very loud and just as my friend and I were seated, a large, noisy group came in so my friend and I could not talk to each other. They got our order wrong not once, but twice and would not fix it the second time. While the Caesar Salad was tasty, the rest of the meal was far below what one would expect at the price they were paying.
Perhaps it was just what my friend and I ordered that was the problem, but I was not impressed at all by the service or the atmosphere. My friend and I also both noticed that none of the waiters or waitresses wrote anything down. Perhaps if they did, they would not make so many mistakes.

  • To start off, I may be a little biased as pub food isn't exactly my favourite, but this was pretty bad. I went with a few people from work, so it was more for the social aspect than it was for the food itself anyway.

I was looking for something quasi-healthy and decided to go with the Greek chicken wrap and veggie sticks as my side. The group of us ordered our meals at least 10 minutes before the guy at the table next to us, yet he got his dish well before we were served. His meal looked more complicated than ours as well, so you'd think his would take longer, but clearly this guy was a priority. It seemed like he was known as a regular, but I still found this quite rude. We're all paying for our meals just as well, strangers or not-- it should be first come first served. We weren't impressed.

Anyways, my wrap was FAR from anything special. In fact, at one point I bit into a large piece of chicken that was very difficult to bite through because it was so dry and stuck in my teeth. I felt like some kind of cave man trying to tear off this meat with my teeth while trying not to make a flailing scene in front of my co-workers.

To make things even worse, the next bite I took had a huge piece of cartilage in it. I couldn't chew it and was mortified to have to spit anything out--- but I was also too afraid to swallow it. So I spit it in my napkin as discreetly as I possibly could. HOPEFULLY NO ONE NOTICED!

Not only that, but my pickle had wing sauce fingerprints all over it, which I imagine one of the cooks couldn't be bothered to wipe his hand off after making wings and carelessly tossed the pickle on my plate.. and my carrot had what looked like dirt along the one side of it.

If I had not been with my work friends who seem to be somewhat fond of this joint, I would have complained for sure. I don't recommend coming here at all and will most likely not be returning. Sorry, Joe Dogs.

  • I went to Joe Dog's last Saturday and had their "Cowboy Steak" special. It was amazing!!!!!!!!! It was a huge hunk of meat, a salad to start and mashed potatoes all for around $15. The service was fast and friendly and the band that came on later that night was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. I will be going back every Satruday for this great deal!

  • A group of us are looking for a place to go after our monthly meetings. We're looking for:
    1) A kitchen that's open after 10pm - some people travel a good distance and need a meal before heading home, or have missed supper to make it and need a bite.
    2) A reasonable selection of beers - some like Guinness, Rickards Red and White are popular, etc.
    3) The ability to socialize.

It is the latter that Joe Dogs fails miserably at. When you have to yell at the person next to you so they can hear you, it's not a place conducive to catching up on what's been going on.

Loud does not begin to describe the place. I asked one of the waitresses if it was always like this, and was told "Yes".

I ordered the unbreaded wings, hot, 8 for $9.99. The wings were small, deep fried, and dipped in what tasted like Franks Hot Sauce. Not bad, but rather ordinary, and definitely overpriced. For $10, I'm looking for larger wings than are found on a small bird. They were, at least, cooked properly.

So, for a plate of wings and a pint of Guinness, including tax, came to about $18, add in $3 for the tip (no need to punish the waitress for the sound level), and for $21, it was expensive for what it was.

All told, it was brutally disappointing. I'd had an email conversation with one of the managers, and told them that a group would be showing up, and the replies were prompt, courteous and definitely gave the impression that we'd be looked after.

So, if you don't mind having to repeat everything you say because the person next to you can't hear you, then this is the place for you.

    Otherwise, stay away.

  • I have to share this amazing experience as I thought that the customer service industry was dying. We had a large party booked in the Octane Louge (40th surprise party) and I was so impressed by the atmosphere and the friendlyness of the staff when we arrived!!! Then it got even better, the service was top notch, even the owner was rushing around serving food which surprised me. I didn't think that Joe Dog's served such a wide variety. Our guests were extremely happy!!! Thanks a million for making our occasion great one!!!!!!

  • The lunch was fast, delicious, hot and fresh. Always good and always back to work on time! The staff is very courteous. The place is very clean and you can tell that they try to keep up with cleanliness. Love the stopwatch. The one time my food was late my lunch was bought for me with a smile!

  • i used to go here a few years back when i lived in the area and had the best service down stairs in the octane lounge by a bartender named grant. i found out that he is no longer there, what a dissapointment!! the servers there now seem to be in jr high and have no idea about what true hospitality is. get some real servers or at least some that care and re-live your glory days of the past.

now to the wings. you at one time had the best in town maybe the best in canada. this new product you have now is garbage. i can tell they are frozen PC wings. many restaurants are doing this and why did you fall to their level? i know your crowd and i'm sure they do not care what they eat as they fall off from their chairs as i see around the bar.

good luck in staying in business.

  • Excellent time, very good food and service, just what we were looking for (this is not fine dining but very good value). Enough to keep you entertained upstairs (games and TVs) and downstairs (clubbing). Casual and friendly staff, never had a problem with service. Now 4 visits (2 lunches, a dinner and brunch) and all have been very good.

  • This was my second visit to Joe's. I only went because I had a promo card from my last horrible meal there. The club sandwich I had was absolutely horrible. Who ever heard of dark meat on one with some sort of spiced 'mayo' on the side. Not to mention that the meat was tasteless, dry and tasted like it was 3 days old. I honestly couldn't tell if it really was turkey!! My onion rings were extremely greasy. My son loved his burger and after having a bite, I agree it was good and really wish I had ordered that instead. Service is slow. The waitress seemed to worry more about looking good than doing her job to any degree. Once she brings you your food, you will not see her again until you are well ready for the check. As I've now had 2 bad visits in a row, I will never return.
