On the whole, this place is well worth becoming familiar with. (I'm free to end a sentence with a preposition without criticism, up with which I will not put!) :-)
Here's a good tip for you: A friend and I go here a lot, but since they stop seating at 9:30pm or so, they attend the buffet less after this time. If you go earlier in the evening/afternoon/day things are fine. Good food, attentive service and nice atmosphere; they come by and ask how things are, they sweep away the used crockery as soon as you head off to the buffet again, check to see if you need more coffee/beverages.
This visit, for example, at 9pm at night, the buffet was getting low on some items. The fried rice was a bit lackluster and the standing Prime Rib was a tad on the cool side. On the other hand, my friend loaded up on Snow crab legs and clarified butter and had a good time. And the service was as good as ever.
This is a Chinese Buffet, and they make good Chinese food, like pepper beef, lemon chicken, and really nice chicken wings (not battered, but deep fried in oil in a wok -- good item) as well as big juicy shrimp in chinese vegetables, the ubiquitous chicken balls with Sweet & Sour sauce and so on. But they also have crab and Prime Rib and a number of unusual things that everyone can enjoy. Not to mention (then why did I mention it?) their desserts, which included lots of assorted little cake slices (one of each kind pre-sliced on plates over the cooler window) or, on request from the cooler selection if someone beat you to the coconut, mango, strawberry, green tea or Black Forest that you particularly wanted. As well, they have two different types of almond cookies (I'm an aficionado) and variegated dessert items like fresh fruit. Explore the place and find all the neat-o items they have around.
As well, the liquor is comparatively inexpensive, such as Mai Tai for less that $5, like most of their mixed drinks, or Coolers for less than $4. Better than your average bar in that respect.
