Big Momma's Soul Food

Looking for some nice jerk pork.
I see this tiny out of the way caribbean place......decided to go and give it a try.
Ordered Jerk Pork with rice and beans.
The guy behind the counter was real nice and friendly, very courteous.
I saw him put a scoop of rice in the container....ok....but then I saw him fishing around in a pan of what looked like overcooked, stringy, sloppy roast beef!!
The jerk pork I have come to love does not swim in a gravy/liquid/soup......
The stuff I am in love with hangs on a hook behind a glass display, and is taken down when you order......the lady takes a huge cleaver and hacks and chops about 1/2 pound of big solid chunks of well seasoned pork off.
Big mommas stuff was NOTHING like the other.
It was as if this stuff had been cooked forever in a pot of water........all sloppy and soft, like spaghetti!
Even though dave behind the counter said if you don't like it, call him and let him know, I won't bother.......I will stick with a little place in North York........(cheaper too!)

The only thing I can say is the food was bad and stinky.

It is an awesome restaurant if you feel like eating something other than burgers all the time. Reasonable prices and friendly staff

Is to expensive and the portions to small and is no that good, i prefer other places.

Have been here a few times as have other friends. The jerk chicken is moist and flavour full and the rice is a nice compliment. Make sure you ask the owner to add some of the gravy from the chicken to the rice. The roti is delicious but I suggest if you order take out, you heat it up in the oven to reduce the liquid levels as some find it runny.

Service is great and friendly, although I havnt yet met Big Momma.

A diamond in the rough for a town like Bradford that was lacking a Caribbean restaurant.

i have had the best jerk chicken and pork in Scarborough, this was by far the worst. the meat was bland. i ordered the goat dinner and had the same result, i was given literally 4 small pieces of meat over a lot of unflavourful rice. i am assuming that because there is nothing around here with the good stuff, people just settle for this. this was my second visit, hoping that the food had improved. Never again.

Wicked food, you can't get any more authenic than this. The staff are very friendly and really make you feel welcome. Plus you get to watch a big screen satellite tv while you eat. What more could you ask for?

Big Momma's Soul is one of the best place you can eat because you know the food is delicious and the owners are awesome people. They are very friendly and make you feel welcome every time you go there. The conversation is great and it is the kind of place you just want to keep going to.
