  • We have been eating here for 3 years, mostly at the hibachi table. Today's lunch was an utter disaster. Too many guests, and too few staff. An hour after we arrived, we had to ask for someone to take our order. When the food arrived, it had to go back because it was COLD! Our waitress, Karen W. apologized and offered us free ice cream!! On leaving, I spoke to the hostess who informed me that they had too many people come in - then she walked away from me. She didn't ask for another chance to make things right. With staff like that it's time for us to take our business elsewhere (even though the waitress did ask us to give them another chance). And jazz on Mother's Day is one thing......rap music is not!

  • I have been to Wabora before and the food had been fair. This evening I had a very expensive meal that was possibly to worst meal I have had in a restaurant. I am not a complainer and would never consider to write a review until tonight. I ordered a Seafood Comination which had shrimp, lobster tail and scallops. The seafood came covered in a flourescent red sauce...the lobster tail was out of shell (which is fine) but covered in a sickly red sauce...the scallops were sliced in half...and the food was cold!!! There was a potato finger or something on the plate and I swear it was still frozen in the middle. A side dish of vegetables came...that were COLD!!! and over cooked??? My nice Christmas Seafood dinner was ruined. Only because I was in a group I did not send the meal back. I have never sent a meal back...but if it had just been myself and friend...I would have done so. I will never eat there again!!!!

  • Order: Seafood Combo with lobster tail, shrimp and scallops

  • Wow! We visit Wabora several times a year but this is the first time that we have reserved space at the hibachi table and was it ever spectacular! Being our first time, we each ordered two-dish combos so that we could sample 4 different proteins - we ended up with shrimp, scallops, lobster and kalbi with Wabora fried rice and fried vegetables. The showmanship was spectacular with all the tricks, flips and flames! The food was all cooked exceptionally well but my husband and I both agreed that the kalbi was a definite 'do over'. If you are interested in the hibachi at Wabora you really need to make a reservation. Even in late fall, on a weekend, the tables were packed.

  • Order: Chardonnay, Alexander Keith's Pale Ale, soup, salad, Wabora fried rice, fried vegetables, lobster, scallops, shrimp and kalbi

  • After reading the reviews, I was stunned at the number that had had a bad experience with the food (I can see the service and atmosphere concerns, especially in the summer - it gets crazy around here!). I have been several times, mainly for lunch, and it is always delicious. The salads are fresh, the meats are tender, the seafood is perfectly cooked and the rolls are divine. The only thing that I have not had is the sashimi(sp?).

  • Order: Seafood tempura; teryiaki shrimp bento box; beef teriyaki bento box; white wine - this time - have had several items before

  • I had never heard of this place, but happened to stop in on a recent visit up north. From the exterior I wasn't sure if I would eat here as it is in a strip mall and not much from the exterior appearance. The interior was a pleasant surprise with a nice clean look and a huge space. The sushi was perfectly prepared, fresh and plated beautifully. Our group headed to Bracebridge again a few weeks later and again we had great food and great service. I can't believe all of the negative reviews on here. We went for lunch both times and did not do the Hibachi, therefore I cannot comment on dinner or the cooked cuisine. However, I am a sushi maniac and have eaten sushi in many places and I was very pleased with everything! I have added photos from my second visit.

  • So I enjoyed an amazing trip up north to Algonquin and decided to stop off in Bracebridge to eat before heading back to the GTA. 6 Hours of canoeing really built and appetite and I was surprised to fine a Japanese Fusion Restaurant in Bracebridge.

The Good: A Japanese Fusion Restaurant in the Muskokas! Muskoka Roll was okay but very nicely rolled.

The Bad: A Japanese Fusion Restaurant in the Muskokas! Wow, the food was terrible; The Spicy Seafood Udon Noodle Soup rivalled the best instant noodles in the market. You get better Udon Noodle Soup in most all you can eat sushi places. The steak was overcooked to Medium rare, I always order my steak rare, and had some crappy sauce on it that killed the natural flavours. Atmosphere was okay, but not for the prices they were charging for the dishes.

The Ugly: Definitely would have to be the Service! I tried to make an order from the Hibachi menu, my waitress advised me that I would have to go sit and witness the sideshow of cheesy food flipping into hats grill section. So I agreed and then she stated that we both would have to order Hibachi and would not allow us to go over to the grill. Our Muskoka rolls came up and sat on the counter for 35 minutes. Our entrees came out after 30 minutes of our order then our waitress waited another 5 minutes to bring out the roll. They then messed up my steak and did absolutely zilch and the response I got was, "oh, I'll let the kitchen know". They didn't offer to correct the situation at all.

I'm not sure if this Wabora is affiliated with the one in downtown Toronto but please save yourself some money and pass on this place. I have a feeling that Wabora will be around in Bracebridge for a while until they get a real Japanese restaurant in the area. I wish I went to the Tim Horton’s in the same plaza for a bite to eat instead of this place.

  • My husband and I recently visited Wabora's for our 2 year anniversary and we were completely disappointed. We ended up eating at different times my husbands meal came fast, and I waited 20-30 min for a sundae roll, by the time it arrived my husband was finished his meal. Not a very nice Anniversary. The waitress tried her hardest to get the roll comp but was told to inform us we could have a free dessert, the price difference of 2.00. We asked to talk with a manager, but no one came, we had to go to the manager. Was then told we should expect to wait, its busy. And she would give us discount, not the whole roll comp, my husband had to argue with her and finally she comped it and said we would not get discount again, lol. What a joke. When we arrived it was not busy, and you are a sushi restaurant. We watched so many take out go out infront of your inhouse guests, you should focus on inhouse then takeout. Bad management in dealing with complaints. We would not have complained if it was any other night, but it was our Anniversary. I also work in the hospitality industry I send business there all the time, they should really think about how they deal with complaintsand customers, small town. Felt bad for the waitress, food was great though.

  • The Crispy Crunch Roll is absolutely YUMMY. That's actually all I go for. I have been IN the restaurant - very nice decor. But only to order the sushi for take-out. It's seems like a nice place to take a group.

  • Never recommend this place to anyone...made reservations 2 weeks ahead of time for my girlfriends birthday and when we showed up were told we had to wait for our seats...we then were seated 25minutes later and were now told we would have to wait for our chef as the people before us had showed up 30 minutes late..instead of cancelling their reservation and taking care of the ones that showed up on time we were given the option to sit in fine dining which is not what we wanted or to leave....this is the biggest joke for customer service especially considering we would spend at least $100 per couple..server said that nothing would ever get changed unless we talked with management as it is a regular occurrence and he basically did not care....he had 35 more people coming in so we no longer mattered to him..MOST MANAGEMENT TEAMS WOULD DO WHATEVER IT TOOK TO KEEP THE CUSTOMER HAPPY IF THEY REALLY CARED ABOUT WHO WALKED THROUGH THEIR DOORS...WE THEN ASKED FOR THE OWNERS NUMBER TO VOICE OUR DISPLEASURE AND THEY THEN PROCEEDED TO GIVE US A FAX NUMBER INSTEAD AS WE FOUND OUT AFTER CALLING..talked to a couple outside about it and they agreed that the bar manager who is a tall skinny man was very UNPLEASANT AND UNCARING as well.......HOPE THIS PLACE GETS DRIVIN UNDER AS WE ALL KNOW BAD FEEDBACK DEFINITELY MAKES A BIGGER IMPACT ON THE PUBLIC THAN POSITIVE....
