  • We went for a birthday dinner and were TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. I had visited before with ok results but this time the service was absolutely the WORST and I will never return. Collectively we ordered a variety of appetizers that took more than 40 minutes to arrive and then dinner well over 45 minutes following that. I ordered the all you can eat mussels which did not arrive until the rest of my party was almost finished their entree. The serving was small and the mussels were gritty. I was advised to order another round immediately because of the wait so i did only they did not arrive until the same time that the bill did. The all you can eat mussels were anything but. For the serving that was availble it was disgustingly over priced - not to mention the sauce they were cooked in tasted processed and was way too thick. The steak tasted like it was from Denny's, the large caesar salad we got to share was little more than a single serve size...and the chowder tasted and looked like wall paper paste.
The servers were less than attentive and seemed to be unphased by the length of time we had waited and by our obvious and clearly expressed frustration.
Dinner was expensive and an absolute waste. What should have been an enjoyable night out celebrating ended up anything but. Stay away from the Boathouse, you will thank me...honestly.

  • Order: soup, caesar salad, steak, pasta, mussels, etc.

  • Feb.24/10. It was a birthday dinner. My husband ordered the New York Striploin with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Caesar salad. I had 3 Cheese Baked Pasta and Caesar salad. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was very tender with the mashed potatoes being very good. Cost - $24.99.

The pasta was hot and very tasty and generous with the cheese. The salad was crisp, fresh and very good. Cost $12.99.

The service was fast and friendly.

The only negative comment is the steak dinner was too expensive for what you received.

  • Order: New York Striploin, 3 Cheese Pasta, Draft Guiness, Coffee.

  • We stopped in tonight and asked for a table for 8 people around 7 p.m. The restaurant was full as part of the restaurant was undergoing renovations. The management was very welcoming and accomodating and all staff went out of their way to find some room for us. We only had to wait 15 minutes. It was worth the wait. It happened to be an all you can eat night for crab at a very reasonable price of 21.99. We loved it!We even got little warmers for our butter. We're only in Belleville about once every every two months and think we've found our favourite spot after one visit!! We would HIGHLY reccomend the Boathouse to anyone!

  • Order: crab, burger, and grilled cheese

  • My husband and I decided to try because we love Red Lobster and didn't want to travel to Kingston. We had the lobster dip and he had fish and chips while I had the Alfredo with garlic shrimp and they were all delicious. Price was a little high for the alfredo and shrimp(5 shrimp) and it was 20.00 dollars. I would definitely go back and this time take my 4 teenagers as well.

  • Order: lobster dip, alfredo with garlic shrimp, and fish and chips

  • Large pieces of fish having excellent quality when you order the fish and chips. The two piece fish and chips is enormous. The vegies are ok. The service is friendly and attentive. Have been many times and will return again.

  • Order: One piece fish and chips

  • Overpriced and underserviced. I was extreamly disappointed with the fish and chips. The fish was either over cooked or cooked in dirty oil because the batter was hard as a rock. The entire menu was over priced and the pop was flat. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the location. They could also use a decorator.

  • On the recommendation from two friends we came here for dinner. We rarely get out for dinner so this was special to us. My husband's escargot was good and came timely. I had to ask for my salad, which was very wet. My husband's main course was the Captain's platter which consisted of a skewer of shrimp (grilled), lobster tail, crab legs. All was overcooked and chewy - very small portions.
I ordered the strip steak with a topper of shrimp. The shrimp had not been grilled (these resemble the small shrimp from a store-bought ring) and the steak came rare when I ordered well-done. Politely, I sent it back to be cooked more. When it returned it was burnt, literally burnt to a crisp. I actually laughed because I couldn't believe that the waitress actually brought that back! I think the cook (no way he/she is a chef) must have been in a bad mood.
Anyway, I sent it away and didn't eat anything. We actually had a good laugh...what else to do? Except, when the bill came and they still charged me for the shrimp add on!
I can't believe that this place was soooo busy. Their food was terrible.

  • Order: escargot, caesar salad, Captain's platter, steak with shrimp

  • We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night, on the recommendation of someone who'd eaten there at lunch. We didn't have the chance to read these reviews first, which was a big mistake.

When we were seated, the waitress said the kitchen was backed up, and there was a half hour wait for main courses. That was a lie, but we didn't know it so we stayed. In fact, there was a 45 minute wait for appetizers, and more that 1.5 hours for main courses. Except that, after 1.5 hours of waiting and several assurances that the food "would be right out", the waitress informed us that the kitchen had misplaced our order. So we waited almost two hours for our meal.

Unfortunately, the problem with this restaurant is not the wait, it is the food. None of the two appetizers and three main courses that came to our table was worth eating. The crab cakes (for about $18) actually tasted bad; either they were made of mashed mystery substance, or the "chef" knows how to obliterate the taste and texture of crab.

We usually only go to restaurants that get good reviews, so I have never written a completely negative review before. I am writing one now. I want my time and my money and my empty stomach back from this restaurant, but I can't get them back. Please don't give them yours -- eat somewhere else.

  • Order: Calamari & mushroom caps appetizers. Whitefish special, crab cakes, shrimp&scallops.

  • The appetizers were great although overpriced...but then appetizers usually are. The orders of basa fish & chips were all large and no one finished theirs but that's because we didn't like the fish. Not having basa before, at first we thought it was because we didn't like the basa but have decided that it just wasn't fully cooked. The one person who ordered halibut said it was great and cooked to perfection.
We got there at 7:30 on a Friday night and had to wait for a table. The place was packed. Once we did get a table (about 15 or 20 minutes), our order was taken quickly but it took forever to get food. Wait staff was friendly and helpful.
They do need a lot more parking and to light what parking they do have. Decor is very nice for a dock side restaurant.

  • Order: mushroom caps, lobster dip, garlic bread with cheese, 3 orders boathouse (basa) fish & chips, 1 order halibut & chips
