Review: the food was amazing but the idiot lady just talked on the phone and when I asked where my food was she said something in spanish or some language and when I asked her what she said she said "I PUT YOU TO MY SHOE" .............................................................What the hell way to run your restaurant. She is why they arent open any more not the food, like i said it was awesome

Review: Great Food, Customer Service not so good! What's up with the woman at the counter, it seems like she is trying to deter business with her unfriendly attitide and constant phone conversations and ignoring customers. It's unfortunate because the food is great and unique to Barrie (way better than the Purple Pig), the owner seems great but the counter person/waitress is in dire need of some customer service skills. Also the location is not ideal, I didn't even realize it was there until this year, maybe more advertising. I hope the restaurant is successful.

Review: The most amazing ribs I have ever had in my life and I really, really, really like (and eat a lot) the ribs. The BBQ sauce is TO DIE FOR, texas toothpicks are a new take on onion rings but they are amazing. You could not really get this kind of food too many places in Barrie. I like the rustic appearance. My only complaint was the front counter help. After waiting for her to finish her animated phone conversation, she finally hand gestured my party and I to seat ourselves. She continued her seemingly important conversation for several minutes before we ordered ice water in little dixie cups. We nearly left when she didn't take our order immediately. Once the food arrived the poor service was forgiven. The food was superb. All this restaurant needs to increase visibility and awareness is some new and attentive counter help. I will recommend this restaruant to EVERYONE. However,I will also mention the poor customer service.

Review: Simply stated - awesome! If the statement is true that this place is closing, shame on Barrie.

Review: Wow, the wings are amazing! 1st smoked then fried, NO grease just great. If you want to try a little of everything the Elvis platter has ribs, wings, pulled pork, brisket, your choice of (2) sides and bread rolls. I travel across North America for business and this is some of the best BBQ that I have ever had. BUT apparently you better get IT while you can, the owner told us that unfortunately they will be closing the restaurant in the fall due to a total lack of support from the citizens of Barrie. This place has won 1st place ribs at the Barrie Ribfest, was named one of North America's top 50 rib joints, was featured on BT 'Hidden Gems' segment for restaurants, and recently featured in the Toronto Star as a must place to eat in Barrie!! What a loss this will be when they go, I am ashamed to admit that I live here, how in the world can we loose a place like this?

Review: The food was really good. The wings have a smokey BBQ taste which I love. We received are drinks in plastic cups which wasn't really too appealing. Owner served us and was very pleasant. We would definately go back.

Review: The food was not bad. The problem with smoke food is that it all tastes the same. Fries were awesome! What turned us off the most is the plastic plates and cups. We felt like we were camping. I've never been to a restaurant where the cups and plates were recyclable.
Service was ok. Owners need a little help in the restaurant training dept.

Review: As the only true BBQ restaurant in Barrie, I've been to Mike's several times. I've tried the ribs, and most of the sandwiches. I would definitely give the pork and beef sandwiches a 9.5 out of 10. The ribs are pretty good too, better than you'll find elsewhere in Barrie, but not as good as you'll find down south - I'd say a 7 out of 10. If you want good ribs try the summer ribfest downtown (not the Purple Pig or Montana's!). The fries are first rate, and they give lots of them - 10 out of 10! I tried the beans once, and thought they were pretty good, but I was a disappointed on the portion. If you go, get the fries!

The ambience needs a total makeover, its too bright and bland. A good bbq joint needs ATTITUDE which Mike's has none!!!!!

Overall, this restaurant is a must go for anyone in Barrie. Because of the ambience, I recommend this place best for lunch.
