Applebee's

gave it 3 tries and only to have 3 strikes. horrible service - waited forever for anyone to come by and forever for anyone to fill drinks. last time i went in was with 10 people - we all ordered at once. and half of the people got their burgers when the woman came back saying the burgers would be a while. honestly- how is it that you can get 3 burgers out but not another 3 at the same time when its all for hte same table? half of our group finished their food before the other half's food even arrived.
always met with disappointment.
would NOT recommend it.

This restaurant is just fine to dine in. If you have been in an Applebee's as most of us have, the only thing that changes is the staff. Don't understand why the posters below are so prejudice to a chain establishment and why this site permits personal attacks when the concept of this site is a review of the restaurant. My advice to anyone who travels Ontario and is North of the 45th parallel. Eat at chain restaurants only while in this area. You will be much happier with your meals.

My husband and I ate at the Applebee's on Bayfield street in Barrie last week... We used to love eating here, but it seems as though the food quality and service have really gone down hill over the past 6 months. Our server was doing her best, but she was clearly over-burdened with too many tables. No manager came by to greet us, even though they USED TO do this all the time. My fajitas were burnt, and my husband's steak sandwich was soggy. The cheese sticks were over cooked and missing most of the cheese. The bathrooms smelled horrible and weren't very clean. Even the edges of the too small table were grimy. Their motto is about it being a neighbourhood place, where you can feel at home, but I really don't feel that way anymore. It seems there have been some changes in management, as I don't recognize any of the faces there anymore... except the GM, who is a total jerk. I would recommend eating elsewhere!

ive been there a couple of times and there is a cow pattie bitch manager who always seems to be feed ing herself and not helping out her staff i seem to remember her name starting with a j.the bartender was very attentive to our needs and i really think the gm needs a hair piece

The Penne Rosa was a very tasty dish. The sauce had a mild heat to it that went great with the sweet sausage. It just had a lot of peas! Luckily my dish wasnt affected by the tomato recall (they used canned tomatos). Great meal.

Unfortunatly, the other 2 diners' meals were affected by the tomato ban. The Rollups didnt come with the Pico de Gallo.

I'd go back.

We have gone here many times so the order above is just an example of one of the many dishes we've had. OK, so this isn't exactly a high end restaurant. I don't expect exceptional service. The wait staff are mostly young people in their late teens to early 20's and yes, some seem utterly bored and full of contempt towards their job, but they do a decent job. I don't remember ever being actually upset at anything a server has done. As long as I get my food, and it's what I ordered, and I am attended to in a friendly manner, I am happy. And that's how it's been when we go there. Regardless of service, the food is something I crave. The menu is varied and they have specials which change often. Some items are better than others. My favourite is the garlicky steak tips with garlicky veggies and garlicky mashed potatoes (can you tell I love garlic?). I have always found the food very tasty, though sometimes (depending on what you order) it is greasy and unhealthy. But that's your choice to pig out or stick to your diet. They had delicious onion wedges in horseradish sauce which I loved enough to look up the recipe online. Unfortunately they have replaced these with onion rings and some other kind of dip. But if filling and delicious food is what you crave in a family friendly atmosphere (though it is often crowded and you have to wait a while, depending what time you go), then this is the place for you!

Sizzling fajitas? NOT! It was like they had boiled the veggies, the chicken had no taste and the rice on the side was drier than a tea biscuit! No kidding!
The Trio is NOT worth the money you pay for it. I would not recommend going to this restaurant nor will I EVER be back again. Totally disappointed...all I have to say is that thank goodness I had won a gift certificate to TRY it out, cause if I had to pay...I would have been pretty upset.

I've tried coming here a few times and I always leave disappointed. This visit was definately my last. The service is always terrible, no one comes to check on you and drinks are always left empty. The food is tasteless and small portions compared to other chain restaurants. I find the wait is always long and staff are generally rude. The server we had this time only talked to us when she was trying up-sell and was loud and tacky. I will stop hoping for good service at this restaurant.

The waitresses weren't the greatest, we had to ask for our drinks a few times, other then that is was great.

Ribs were good
Oriental salad was good
Steak was small, potatoe and veg portion was pathetic
Chicken parmigiana was the worst I've ever had....sharp tomato sauce...really cheap on the cheese
lousy food...overpriced
service was minimal
Won't bother going again...too many other good restaurants in Barrie to choose from.
