  • The country location was not remote. It was close to Ancaster and yet located just on the outskirts encirled by farm fields. The historic country farm house was well maintained, the addition we ate in and the decor kept with the ambiance. The meal was a traditional hearty feast keeping with the country tradition. The service was great; friendly. I will go back again:)

  • Order: Salmon and vegetables, beef Wellington.

  • Unfortunately, the food spoiled what could have been an enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant setting is rather unique, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The soup was very good, but the garlic caesars were brutally strong, and actually burnt the mouth. The Beef Wellington's were almost raw (very bloody and blue) and the surrounding pastry was uncooked dough inside. The Chateaubriand sauce was bitter, and all the vegetables were closer to raw than "el dente". One person out of six enjoyed their dinner. Everyone enjoyed the desserts however. Our group goes out once a month to try different restaurants, and this was a very disappointing outing.

  • Order: Pork Tenderloin, Beef Wellington, Atlantic Salmon, Chateaubriand, Caesar Salad, Shrimp Salad, Roasted Pepper Soup.

  • this is my fourth time at this restaurant and i've always found the food to be excellent; except this time. my husbands meal was wonderful: shrimp cocktail for appetizer and lamb as entree - delicious. i had the caesar salad, which as the warning indicated, is VERY garlicky. i've had it before, but i've never found it as garlicky as it was this time. i had to ask for a glass of water because it burned my throat so much. a little too much garlic, but still very good. the problem lied with my entree. i chose to have the beef wellington which is said to be cooked at medium. when it arrived, i felt the pastry was underdone and as well the meat - it was running with blood. i like my meat cooked!
our dessert was delicious, chocolate mousse.
i would go back simply because previous dinners here have been better and i would base it on those and not on this visit.

  • The food was, as usual, top notch, service friendly and prompt. The menu is limited, as with most "fine dining" establishments. Landscaping and outdoor lighting need to be addressed.

  • Wine should not be served in a crock pitcher (so the customer knows exactly the amount given, bottled water should be opened at the table so the customer knows for sure it is bottled water, and the parking lot should be lit for safety reasons.
