I love the coach! The atmosphere is fantastic. It is a wonderful place to go to in the winter and relax. The patio is quaint and nice in the summertime. Yes, the prices are a bit high and the selection is limited but I believe I read on the menu once that they buy locally which as a result makes their prices higher. Last I went, my friend had the homemade hamburger (recommended) for $8.99 and said it was the best she's ever had! I had the stew (feature of the day) and it was fantastic!!! Not to mention that our sweet waitress was impeccable in timing and polite! I highly recommend!

We went to this restaurant as it came highly recommended from friends. It was one of the worst let downs in a restaurant I have ever experienced. My husband and I both ordered sandwiches with fries which we waited for for over 2 hours, while a couple that came in 45 minutes after us were served and left before we ever saw our meal. When the sandwiches finally arrived they were not right and the fries were stone cold. The server was extremely rude and less than courteous. He then muttered a profanity about me as I did not leave him a tip. I will never return to the Coach and Lantern.

Service was excellent, she couldnt of been more right on time and very outgoing. A gentleman visited our table to see how everything was. Our food was exceptional and it was pipin hot the way I like it. Now we have a new place to add to our favourites and we love the atmosphere. We were fortunate to be among many enjoying a talent show with singing and playing guitars, it was so much fun and it was busy. We will definately go back again. Thankyou.

The escargot was awful and the drinks were overpriced. The place has gone downhill. If you're going to raise prices, it should be reflected in what you are offering.

My family recently moved to Ancaster, drawn here in part by the attractive main strip. We were very pleased to see a cozy pub right in the middle of town and decided to try it out shortly after arriving. The service was adequate and friendly enough, although a little slow (it wasn't even a busy night). I suppose that we were paying extra for atmosphere, because the food menu was definitely overpriced for what we received. In particular, the nachos (which were more expensive than just about anywhere else around) consisted of tasteless tortilla chips with extremely skimpy toppings.
Despite living within a couple of kilometers of the Coach & Lantern, we will be trying out other pubs because there is just too much selection these days to make the same mistake twice. Too bad.

My wife and I have very busy schedules so every few weeks we like a break from the kitchen. The Coach and Lantern has become the answer to our " no cooking fridays". Now one might think that we would run out of menu choices after a few months, but owners Mark and Andrea have taken care of that by offering daily soup, meat, and pasta features that obviously have no relation to leftovers smothered in unknown sauces that we have experienced in other operations in the past. Keeping it fresh along with consistency in the level of service offered is a must in the food industry. Throw in a table visit where it is not uncommon for one of the owners to sit down just to say hello and thank you for your business is icing on the cake. Speaking of which, the homemade cheesecake is fantastic. If you are looking for a little getaway where rest and relaxation seem effortless to achieve, then " The Coach" might be the answer. We might even change our kitchenless night to a Monday or Tuesday for an intimate start to the week. Kudos to Mark and Andrea for throwng complacency out the window.

The atmosphere is second to none in the area. The food is above average for a modern day pub. The staff is and has been genuinely friendly and attentive evey time I have visited. The new owners are doing pretty much everthing right, including table visits and asking for feedback from their customers. The latter is a breath of fresh air in this day and age of fast food restaurants disquised as authentic pubs. If you have'nt been to this establishment lately, I recommend you try it. Old fashioned charm and ambience along with good food and company still exisits in Ancaster.
Two thumbs up as one wise man put it. - Order: Steak and Mushroom Pie, burger, Guiness, smirnoff,

We love this place! The atmosphere is amazing and the closest thing you'll get to a British pub anywhere around here! The food was great, we had no complaints! Service was better than average too! Overall, a great experience and we will definitely return!
