Shogun Japanese Steak House

Our greeter seemed indifferent that we came to dine there.No smile- or any emotion whatsoever. Not a good start! We were seated within 10 minutes, and waited another 10 for the soup and salad. Salad was miniscule- 2 or 3 bites was about it. Lacking a lot of veggies. The soup was almost clear broth, with a very mild- almost imperceptible flavor, and came in a very small bowl. Then comes the "chef"- to cook our main course on the grill that was in the center of our table arrangement. He proceeded to cook our beef and shrimp, along with the others seated at our table. As the chef was cooking, he tried to demonstrae his finesse with knives as he threw them up in the air and tried to catch them in his pocket.. Our meal was overdone, but he continued to put on a show with raw eggs and more knives....I wont get into what happened to the eggs.

The main course was indeed overcooked, and dry. The portions were again very tiny, and we left hungry. We went to the other side of the parking lot, and ate Mexican, to fill us up. Never again..this was our 3rd and final try to like the place to no avail. The bathrooms needed a good cleaning as well, and there wasn''t even a remote sign of thank you as we paid our check. Avoid this unless you''re on a diet and don''t care about service or hospitality.

We ordered Teriyaki chicken and Teriyaki steak. The Shogun is a restaurant that seats you around a cooking area. The chef enters the area, starts the grill and prepares in front of you. It is a fun experience and the food has always been good. Shogun starts you with a beverage and also serves a small, nondescript salad as well as miso soup. They encourage you to order appetizers and we usually order the batter dipped vegetables. Those are made in the kitchen and served. But then the fun begins. The chef wheels his cart out with the ingredients for dinner and the fun begins. There is the chopping, the little volcanoes of fire and flipping shrimp tails into their pockets and hats. The end result is food that is piping hot and tasty.
