Before I start, let me say I had tried most of the Chinese buffets in town and they all appeared to be part of the same (rather lousy) chain. Then I was introduced to King House on Broadway. There are at least six items on their buffet that I would come back for. If I combined all the other Chinese buffets I've visited, I could maybe come up with one. Of course not everyone will like every item, but it was obvious on my first visit that the variety and the quality the items was far superior to the competition.
First, the salad bar is passable. They have lettuce, pickles, boiled eggs, fruit and some seafood & sushi. This is all OK, but it is not why you're here.
Second, there are many main dishes that are outstanding. The list is long, but - Don't miss: the Moo Goo Gai Pan...the Pepper Chicken with jalapeno & onions(!)...the Black Pepper Beef...the Chicken Stick...the Lobster Roll...the boiled won tons...the Orange Chicken...the Green Bean Chicken...the Chicken with Broccoli...the Mongolian Beef(!)...and the Snow Shrimp(!)(I don't even like shrimp(!)).
Third, you have staples like fried won tons, fried rice, noodles, sweet & sour chicken, Gen. Tso's chicken, spring rolls, and chicken wings. Also, there are a few deep fried items like potato wedges, waffle fries, onion rings, etc. Don't miss: the Lo Mein noodles, the toasted garlic bread, & the Cream Cheese Won Tons. It's also worth noting that fill-your-own beverages (including milk) are included in the buffet price.
If you've ever been to a Chinese restaurant in Fargo, you owe it to yourself to try King House. I'm not a fan of Chinese cuisine, but I keep going back again and again. That says it all.
