Clyde's Restaurant

My boyfriend and I stopped into Waynesville, NC, with his son, on a sight-seeing trip. We saw the sign for Clyde's Restaurant (where the "home folks" eat) and thought it sounded like a good place for country cooking. Wow, we were definitely not disappointed! Clyde's is a small diner with outstanding country fare. We ate supper one night and even my boyfriend's 6-year old really enjoyed the food. We each ordered an entree and shared off each other's plates. It was all so good!

However, the best thing about the meal was the wonderful sweet iced tea. I'm a southern-born gal and I have to tell you that it's rare to get iced tea this good on a consistent basis.

We enjoyed Clyde's so much that we also stopped in for breakfast the next morning. Again, everything was so delicious that we kept stuffing ourselves so as not to miss the last little bite of the excellent food. The sweet tea was just as good that morning as it was the night before. We got "to go" cups and I wish we would have asked for a gallon.

Oh, let me not be remiss in mentioning that the staff was very friendly and welcoming. All of our requests were handled cheerfully.

Sometimes I dream about eating at Clyde's...silly I know. We often say we should go there for breakfast but it's almost 3 hours from home and we just can't justify a trip like that with all the high gas prices. To be sure I will visit Clyde's on my next trip through the NC mountains.

Great food especially for the price I paid under 10 bucks and received all of this food.
