I am a transplant to this area and had been bemoaning the lack of a nice restaurant that was basically not a buffet or so upscale you left with your belly still hungry and your wallet empty. My friend has been telling me of House of Ribeyes for quite some time now and last night I finally went. It was exactly what I'd been looking for. Simple and straightforward in the food, service and atmosphere. When you walk in you have the choice of eating in the bar/smoking area or the dining room which held may-be ten to twelve tables. Very simply done, white table cloths, linen napkins, small salad bar and the main focal point being the open cooking area. Simply a big grill to cook your steak and a big oven to bake your regular or sweet potato. As the name implies, you have a choice of ribeyes from 6oz on up. Your server asks how you like it cooked and it is then cut and cooked in front of you. Can't get much fresher than that! While your steak is cooking you help yourself to the small, but adequate salad bar. It contains the basics, iceberg lettuce mix, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, onions, egg, cheese, beets, pineapple, mushrooms, green and black olives and four types of dressings - Thousand island, Honey Mustard, Creamy Italian and Ranch. The server then brings your steak, baked potato and grilled Texas Toast. Though I opted for ice tea, there is an extensive Martini Specialty drink list as well as a nice selection of red or white wines and beer. The service was friendly, professional and attentive without being hovered over. Monday thru Thursday there are a few other items offered on the menu such as Chicken and Fish but Friday and Saturday it's all about the steaks! My 6oz ribeye was cooked perfectly med. rare and was $12.99, my friend had an 8oz for $17.99 and we had two ice teas. The total bill was $38.95 (before tip) and we left very full and very happy. House of RibEyes just goes to show that you don't need frills and hundreds of items to choose from. Good food done right and affordable.
- Order: I had a 6oz ribeye, cooked medium rare, baked potato and salad. Though the specialty drink list is extensive, creative and reasonable, I opted for an ice tea as I was driving. This place is unique in that your steak is literally cut and cooked in front of you. We were the last couple in with no reservation and I didn't know it at the time but it was very near closing. We were immediately seated and weren't "rushed" through our dinner. The service was friendly and attentive, drinks always filled. We left full and happy and will most definately return.
