Taloola has been a favourite cafe of ours for over 2 years. Linda, the owner, made the decor a beautiful mix of antiques and art. Friendly and offbeat.
Very tasty food - lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Delicious desserts. Wonderful coffees of all kinds. Organic teas. Check out the little scrapbook about all the teas.
Live music on Sat. nights.
Open from 7:30 a.m., now open til 10 or 11 every night. Closed Mondays.
- Order: teas, coffees, sandwiches, salads, desserts, smoothies
- Great food, a little uneven

Wonderful view of the Detroit Skyline. Anthony is a fabulous chef. I have been overjoyed by the food on 3 of the 4 occasions we ate here. Nice decor. Friendy service - we had no problem with the wait staff.
We went once on a Wed. night when Anthony was not in the kitchen, and were a bit disappointed that our meals seemed to be just a bit less impressive.
- Order: appetizers, fish, tasting menu - YUM!
- Spago good food reasonable price

Appetizers are good. Great bread with roasted garlic, olive oil and balsamic. Salads are cold and tasty, with not too much dressing. Pasta with mussels and white wine sauce is fantastic. I love the gnocchi.
Bonus - they have whole wheat pasta! Risottos are wonderful, and can be made with barley.
Only drawback is that it can get too loud when it's busy.
- Order: Italian wine, salads, pizza, pastas, yum!
- Great Vietnamese food, good service

We go here often - every 2 or 3 months, and sometimes get takeout.
Huge selection of vegetarian dishes. The food has been consistently good to great. Vegies done well. Great place to go if you have vegetarians and meat eaters together in your party.
- Order: lots of different things - favs include barbecue tofu, lemon mushrooms, many others

We have eaten here for many years, and still love to go there at least once a month. Very attentive and friendly service, and the food is always delicious and hot. I dream about the squid! Ambience has been fixed up a bit lately.
The food and the service remain superb.
- Order: hot and sour soup, salt spice squid, baby bok choy with garlic, General Tso's chicken, any shrimp dish, fish, everything!
- declining quality

I recently returned to Basil Court after a couple years. It was nowhere near as good as previously. The service was slow, food was uninspired, and the decor showed a little more dinginess.
- Order: pad thai, etc.
