  • we will often get take out from Paul's because buds used to work in the area, and liked their "canadian-style" chinese food. i used to laugh at them, as we normally go to good restaurants, but lately with the eggo beign preggo, i have had cravings like you wouldn't believe for soft chow mein noodles and honey garlic ribs!

And you can't really beat the value at Paul's, the food is always fresh, and portions huge. we normally get a dinner for 2, or order 2 " custom order combos for 1 person" if we want more variety. we always get tons of food, and the flavours are pretty good. we will have lots of left overs for lunch, and the bill is under $21! of course, there are some dishes that i think are better than the rest, like their dry garlic sparibs and their honey garlic ribs. hubby likes their soft chow mein noodles, but you can get the crispy ones as well.

We have also eaten their as well, but it's a small hole in the wall place and not that clean. but the food is good and their burgers and sandwiches are good and you can't beat the prices. i think the wife is the server (not cute or anything) and the hubby is the cook, service is always quick and attentive.

  • Stopped by for lunch. The restaurant was busy when we got there and continued to get busier. We thought it a good sign. Service was fine for Asians when we arrived, but nearly non-existent when we were ready to pay and leave -- not just us, but other tables were having trouble getting the Chinese/japanese/Koreans' attention.

The restaurant has an extensive menu, but for simplicity we chose a lunch box ($9.95 and up) and roll lunch combo, which looked like a good value ($11.95 for soup, larger salad, choice of side: tofu, gyoza, tempura, or chicken AND specialty roll: 6 to choose from!

Miso soup was very bland (no dashi?), but the salad was good. The gyoza that came 10-15 min. later were barely warm and mediocre. Surprisingly, I still had to wait at least 5-10 minutes for the Kamikaze roll (spicy tuna, tempura) after that. The roll did have a lot of flavour and was tasty, but it wasn't as spicy as I was told it would be. Enjoyed the sweet spicy sauce, though.

Again, service was sporadic. We got a cup of tea when we first sat down, but when she came by and refilled tea at tables beside us, she neglected our table (she wasnt exactly cute so never mind), and there was no one to flag down to ask for more. So instead, we just asked for the bill.

  • I'll be honest for the price I would probably go to Cactus Club first where the steak is cheaper and the waitresses are hotter. Over there the hostess is in a cute skirt and will even open the door for you. The food at the Keg wasnt bad though. A little on the pricey side. The servcie was good, but maybe it's just me but I felt the crowd wasn't as happening.

  • The last time I was at Cactus Club, about four years ago, I was very impressed with the scantily clad waitresses providing great service. I just never got the chance to come back until now. I was quite pleased when we decided to try the restaurant once more. The waitresses and the hostess are still cute - although more short skirts would be good. The food was decent, not fantastic, but acceptable for the prices they charge. I would consider Cactus club a great place for a martini and an appy....would probably skip salad and have red meat next time.

  • My friends and I went here a short while ago, some of us had been there before and thought it was alright the first time, we had a friend visiting town and decided we will go there again because we had cheap food here, we arrive and are seated immediately which wasn't bad at all, especially when we were a fairly large group. our waitress arrives and asks us what we want to drink, we order and everything is going well, until it came time after we ordered our food. on the menu it states that almost every appetizer and entree comes with sides of pita so we thought for the amount of food we ordered we would have more than plenty of pita for all of us, she brings us the first basket of pita, it only has maybe 3 full pitas cut into 2 slices each, this basket lasts all of maybe 5 minutes and we wanted more, as we have about 3 orders of humus among other things, we ask the beatch when she comes by for more pita she says 'sure no problem' she comes back and in the bowl is 1 and a half pitas, half of what we got last time, this is finished very quickly as well and we haven't even received our entrees yet. we start to get annoyed at the amounts of pita we are receiving and ask her for another FULL basket, she comes by again and we ask for more, she tells us 'ok no problem', he comes back 5 minutes later with again 1 and half pita but this time cut up into 8 tiny pieces, we are like what the hell is this. Finally our entrees arrive and they were average at best, then to make things worse the girl with excessive make-up dissapears for 25 minutes, everyone has empty glasses of water and other drinks we ordered. She eventually comes back and takes everything away and we ask for the bill, when it arrives we take a look at it and see something outrageous, she had the guts to charge us 2.00 per extra baskets of pita, we are astounded, we had ordered 6 entrees and about 8 appetizers, all which came with pita and she had charged us for the minuscule amount we received, we walked out angry, frustrated and annoyed.

And to top it all off there was this awful Greek singer who was just insulting classic music with his pitchless and whiny voice, you couldn't even understand the lyrics he was babbling into the mic most of the time. it was so awful and loud you couldn't even hear the person beside you without having to raise your voice

i will never go to this place again and i won't ever recommend it to anybody. Greek dining for the typical fat Greek wifebeater

  • I've been to every known Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond; that's about 16-17 places. This is the best or at least my favourite. It's a typical Asian place to eat. The food is really good. The service is just straight up; you get what you ask for. You have to order every little thing you want, you want water you have to ask for it. Eat in or take out and then leave. Ambiance is nothing, it's actually better than before, it used to be an ugly pink salmon, now its a off-white yellow. Try it.

  • Typical West Indian dirty! I can honestly say that I have never eaten in a "restaurant" as disgusting as this one. Less a restaurant and more of a Caribbean greasy spoon, this dive is decorated with Christmas lights and tacky trinkets, with tables and chairs that is clearly re-purposed from patio furniture.

This is forgivable when the service and food is good, but P gees (whoever he may be) does not seem to have diverted all of the decor money into getting the best help, or the finest quality staff... far from it...

The staff, well... where to start... when asked what was good tonight, one prissy little bi tch told me that most customer like the butter chicken. By "most" customers I assume that she means "westerners". I have actually visited Trindiad, guyana, etc, as I do a lot of business there, and am incredibly well versed in Indian Cuisine. I guess the girl was not to know this though, but I really doubt that she would give a crap if told. She seemed more concerned with continually fixing her hair and EXCESSIVE make-up every time she passed a reflective surface.

We let this pass, made our order, and waited for our food to arrive. We were unsure if Papa dum came with the meal so after about 15 minutes we called the girl over to ask for some. She looked at us as if we were insane, but eventually brought over a couple of what I can only describe as greasy, fried garbage.

When the food came it was surprisingly bad. Considering the experience that we had been having so far, that is really saying something. I ordered the goat curry, and my wife ordered a lamb dish. Well, both tasted the same... dog food! I assume that P Gees has been cutting costs on meat and has been buying horse or something, because that was definitely not goat or lamb!

this dump offers his curry in different levels of spiciness for the western market. Naively, I asked for mine 'Hot'. This was a mistake. It seems that Jr must make up a batch of bland curry then if someone asks for their food to be 'medium' or 'hot' he gets the chef to sprinkle so pre made curry powder on top of the bland concoction. This was evidenced by the incredibly spicy powder that formed an almost solid mass on top of my food. Obviously our dumb waitress forgot to stir our spice in. I actually burned my tongue on the raw spice, but once I mixed it in it was back to being blandsvile central.

We complained to our server, and she went over to the old guy attending till and they argued in their language for a while. I picked up that he was not very happy with us complaining about his food. I think they were related in some way, because I would never talk to my employees like that. After fobbing us off with a bottle of wine (it was clear that a refund was not on the cards) they went about their business as we sipped down our the two glasses of cheap house red. When it came time to pay they tried to charge us for the win, and old guy claimed to have no recolection of saying we could have it free.

I refused to pay for it, and once the server confirmed it was free he reluctantly rang us through while muttering curses under his breath.

I will NEVER return to this disgusting place, not even if every other Indian restaurant in town closes down. Even the buffet at Sabri has better food and quality of service. I will also be keeping an eye on my credit card too to make sure that no one in that shady place stole the card number... it wouldn't surprise me.

Overall rating: Foul beyond my capacity to adequately summarize! I wish I could give it a rating of zero!!!!
