  • After having a wonderful meal , great service and a nice time out for dinner with my son, I was accused of not paying my bill. The bill came to me for 2 buffet meals. I put down 3 - $ 20 bills which covered the bill plus a tip. I filled out the survey on the back of the bill and placed the bill over the money ( Excellent was filled out on every line of the survey for food, service and atmosphere). I then handed it to the waitress and proceeded to leave the restaurant. My son and I were standing outside when the waitress ran out and said , `` you didn`t pay enough``. I told her this was impossible that I had handed her $60.00. I then followed her back into the area where they clear the dishes. She said it might have fallen on the floor but she had looked and it wasn`t anywhere to be found. The Manager arrived and said that he had to believe her as well as myself. He had the most brutal ``sh²² eat`n grin`` on his face. I again explained that I gave 60 and handed it directly to the waitress. He did not seem to care. The little waitress kept saying that when she lifted the bill there was only one 20. My son explained the same version. All of this was done in the company of other customers trying to enjoy a good meal. Most embarrassing. I looked at the Manager and said , ``then call the police``. I told him that I worked in the same line of business as the police and that I was certainly not in the habit of trying to not pay my bill. He then said , ``I will call the police``. While at the front counter waiting for another waitress to call the police, both the Manager and the waitress left. I was so embarrassed and infuriated as I was standing infront of my son and alot of other customers waiting to be seated. I knew I had placed the money on the tray then the bill with the survey on top. They had me second guess myself as I started looking through my purse while waiting for the police to arrive. All of a sudden the little waitress came running up to me and my son at the counter and said, ``I`m so sorry, I found it`` It was stuck under the tray``. She kept trying to hug me and apologize. Needless to say all I wanted to do was cry! Nowhere was the smug Manager. I demanded her to get the Manager. She kept trying to apologize which I would not accept. I had to demand to speak to the Manager 5 times. He finally arrived stating he was sorry for the mistake. I told him that this was the most embarrassing moment of my life, especially infront of my son. I work in the police profession and was certainly not impressed. He again apologized, without my acceptance as I left the restaurant. Sad thing is ....when they try this in China you will have to either pay again or face the corrupt judicial system.
