Still good, but not as great as it used to be.
I've been coming to the GSK at Prince of Wales/Heron for a decade now, and it always served large portions of tasty food at very reasonable prices with efficient and friendly service. These things remain mostly true, but the experience has slipped from being a hands down great dining experience to just decent.
In the last 2 years, the pricing on their menu items and daily specials has risen up to 40%, they've started charging extra for things that were included (like the little glob of tzatziki sauce), and since July 2009, it seems that both the specials menu and the seasoning of the souvlaki has changed. The food is still good, but the souvlaki isn't quite as tangy and unique as it used to be - all 4 of us noticed this in the last month. The galaktebureko and baklava are good, but seemed smaller and more expensive too. The fries and potatoes still rock though. The waiters - even the veterans - are no longer as friendly, and the vibe of the place is not as welcoming as it used to be. Its still a decent place, but its not quite as unique nor memorable as before.
I realize costs go up and things change, but its still a bit disappointing only because it used to be alot better. If you are going to increase the price, don't scrimp on the servings. Instead of going there every few weeks, we are down to every few months now.
That said, if you've never been and enjoy generous portions (or great leftovers) then its definitely worth a visit, but its too expensive to make a regular hang out. Its a pleasant 20-min walk from Carleton U campus if you take the canal and up the stairs to the Heron overpass to PofWales Dr.
