Old South Barbecue

Old South is located in the heart of Smyrna, GA - just a few miles northwest of Atlanta. All of their barbecue, which includes pork, beef brisket, chicken and pork ribs, is pit smoked. It has a flavor that is a notch above other barbecue restaurants in the area. It is family owned and, in fact, is celebrating its 40th year in business in 2008. It has that "road house" look but with a definite family ambiance. Living in the area, I have tried most of their items over time and have never been disappointed. There are several home-made flavors of BBQ sauce to choose from and numerous side dishes including French Fries, Onion Rings, Brunswick Stew, home made Chili, BBQ Beans and more. I usually am not much of a cole slaw aficionado but I really enjoy Old South's slaw (made without the mayo found in most recipes).
