Nick’s Pizza Ristorante Italiano is one of the best Italian restaurants in Costa Mesa, California. It’s been run by the same family since 1968 and serves much more than pizza.

The name, “Nick’s Pizza” is misleading though. And its location in the middle of a small shopping center parking lot isn’t the most glamorous either. But don’t be dissuaded. It’s a tasty escape inside.

People love Nick’s pizzas, but I haven’t been able to pull myself away from their amazing pastas yet. Pictured here is the Tortellini and Chicken, with prosciutto and green peas in a light cream sauce, and the Chicken Portobello, with artichoke hearts, served with parppardelle in gorgonzola sauce. The pasta is fresh and delicate. All pasta dishes and entrees are served with house made soup or salad, plus garlic bread.

The soup pictured here is split pea. They also offer some unique appetizer choices, such as Deep Fried Crab Ravioli and a Bowl of Mussels with garlic, white wine and a spicy red sauce. Entrees include Veal Marsala, Eggplant Parmigiana, Osso Bucco and Filet Mignon.

Nick’s Pizza is so much more than a pizza place, and the prices are reasonable too. Costa Mesa hosts many great Italian restaurants and Nick’s is one of the unassuming best.
