The Town’s Inn Pub and Eatery and Cannonball Deli
Guest Blogger: Susan from the Fork You Blog...
A day of touring the scenic grounds and museum displays of Harpers Ferry National Park really works up an appetite. A dozen or so eateries line the two busy streets of the historical downtown crawling with history buffs and schoolchildren on field trips.
The Town’s Inn stands on High Street and serves as a Bed & Breakfast as well as a lunch destination.
The limited menu was accented by higher prices than expected. No matter, though. I don’t mind digging a little deeper into my wallet for high quality, freshly prepared, delicious food. I do mind, however, when it turns out to be an assembly meal.

The butterflied fried shrimp with fries for $10.99 was not prepared in-house. It was fried in-house from bags of frozen pre-breaded shrimp and frozen curly fries. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a crispy, salty plate of deep-fried goodness as much as the next person, but when I am in the mood for such a meal, I head to a fast food joint where the prices match the quality.
It wasn’t all bad, though. The adequate portions were presented on a real plate with flatware and a cloth napkin. We enjoyed the cool calmness of the rock garden seating in back of the building on the unusually warm November day. The server was overbooked but friendly.
All diners have expectations. Not meeting those expectations will prevent return visits to the restaurant.
If you find yourself in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia enjoying the scenic beauty and rich history of our Civil War days, pass on by the Town’s Inn and try the quaint Cannonball Deli instead.
