  • The first time i went to this establishment 4 of us were shocked at the lack of food on the menu. We were hungry so we stayed. The second time we went was for breakfast only to find there was no breakfast menu. I guess for some, breakfast is a liquid diet. The third time we decided to go for just drinks one night. I have never been so disgusted in my life as i was that night .We were treated extremely poorly by the owners. After asking for the bill three times, we went directly up to the bar and spoke to the owner and his wife. They snapped at us by explaining how their computer system was down and can't take any credit cards or debit cards and can't print up any receipts. She suggested we leave our credit card there and we pick it up the next day. What kind of fools did she think we were!! I said we can pay cash but i want a receipt. She declined. I asked again for a written receipt and she called me very rude names and told me to get the F out of her Bar or she will call the police. I suggested she call the police. She pretended to call and hung up and yelled more obscenities towards me and my husband. Then her husband got on the band wagon and was also yelling get the F out of my Bar . We were flabergasted to say the least. She wrote a receipt on a piece of paper with a crayon and threw it at me and called me more names. At this point my husband and i walked out the door in shock and they were right behind us slamming the door and yelling at us from the other side of the glass. We walked home trying to figure out how anyone like those two could be in a business in such an upscale area. The food is horrible, not much of a selection and the area is so small they pack it so full, people would never get out unharmed if an emergency were to happen. We also live close by and am tired of the loud music heard through the neighborhood, noisey drunks , people urinating in the parking area across the street, smoking canibus out the doorway of the establishment and loud motorbikes speeding up and down the street. Hopefully this establishment will not last long.

  • We arrived at the pub,we sat around waiting for the first 15mins.with no one coming up to us with the offer of a menu or asking us if we'd like to order a drink. We had to ask if we were going to get served, it so happens the lady who grudgingly came to take our order (we found out later owns the place with her rude husband) she had a terrible attitude and was very rude to us. She acted as though we were bothering her which certainly wasn't the case. The food we ordered came to our tables, it took 35mins. I ordered calamari which was barely cooked and semi warm. My friend had to send her meal back as it was not cooked all the way through. We were just appalled by the service (or lack thereof) and the quality of the food they were serving and we complained to the owner who in turn said if we didn't like it then we should get the "F" out of her pub...I have never been treated in such a foul manner in all my life and I can speak for my friends as well as myself that we will never go near that dump again and I think that someone should go and shut that place down as it is only a matter of time before someone gets food poisoning...Its also way too loud and is very dirty...bathroom was disgusting...one toilet was all plugged up and inoperable.

  • Order: calamari,burgers. caesar drink, 2beers.

  • I've been going to the West Beach Bar and Grill since it has opened. I love the atmospher and the service. Its so nice to sit down with some friends and talk about life. They treated us really good there and we're been going back for more because of that. Its the number one spot for me on the strip in white rock. For those who come to write things because they had a "flat pop" and what not... maybe you were the ones that were rude.

  • Order: Salmon burger and salad with coronas

  • Wherefore Art Thou, Troll's on the Beach?

  • Every summer for the past 6 years my wife and I have gone to White Rock in the summer to experience the best fish and chips at Troll's on the Beach. This year we went to do the same, but were astounded when we got inside and realized that Troll's was gone, and the place was now called West Bay Bar & Grill.

This was, unfortunately, not a good thing.

Where to begin? We were the only ones in the dining area but they had rock music cranked so loud I couldn't hear my wife or the server. Strike one.

Then we both ordered Cokes, and when we got them they were flat. We sent them back, and the server made a big deal of how we were getting bottled Coke instead because "the carbonation wasn't working". Strike two.

The worst part of having a fish and chip fetish is that they only offered cod and chips. Oh well, I thought I would make the best of it and try them out, but then she tells us "We don't have any tartar sauce." What??? You mix mayo and relish, that's IT. Why offer something on the menu if you can't provide it to your customer. Strike three. At that point I had a strong urge to get out while I still could. We ordered our meals from the otherwise limited selection, timidly optimistic that they would have ample mayo, relish, bread, and other basic restaurant ingredients on hand.

Next up, our server took almost 10 minutes to go outside and talk to some fellow who was smoking just outside the door, and letting all the smoke drift inside. It turns out he was one of the other employees, or maybe an owner. Who cares? Either way not very smart.

The end of the story, I ended up ordering a seafood club sandwich that was bland and underwhelming. I kept worrying that they would say they had no shrimp! My wife settled for a wrap which she actually said wasn't half bad, but that means it wasn't half good either.

Bottom line, a very bad experience! I would suggest that if you must go there, wait until next year to see if they improve, or are still in business for that matter. With Troll's gone, the best options re Moby Dick's or The Boathouse, and I guarantee they have tartar sauce!
