Mr. Mike's

We have been to a Mr. Mike's location in Cranbrook and enjoyed the food so we figured we would try the new Airdrie location.

The decor after you get through the main entrance is certainly lacking character. Its just a few brush strokes away from being a high school cafeteria. We started with drinks and ordered Vodka Seven and lime. We got lemonade, our first return of the night. We then ordered a pitcher of water. This is the first time I have ever sent water back to the kitchen. If drinking out of a garden hose that has been sitting in the sun all day is your thing, order the water. 2 return items and we have not even ordered from the menu yet. NOT GOOD!

I ordered the prime rib with crab "leg", that's right one darn leg cut in half. They also neglected to bring out and garlic butter with the crab leg. Very disappointed with the crab "leg". I also got a baked potato with all the trimmings put on by the kitchen. I found the potato after much digging through all the butter, sour cream, and chives. Never let the kitchen put on the trimmings. The prime rib was cooked to the med rare I ordered. but it was very lame on the taste scale. No spice at all.

Chicken quesadilla was the 3rd item to go back to the kitchen. The flavor of this item was akin to eating a piece of bark.

The manager removed the Chicken quesadilla from our bill.

On a good note the Steak bite appetizers were excellent. Presentation of them was boring but they are fantastic.

This place will not be seeing me return anytime soon.

My overall impression is that we were getting Denny's food and service and surroundings at Keg prices. The entrance vestibule was attractive enough but we were very disappointed when we saw the dining area that looked uninspired, plain, sparse and, like I said, like a Denny's. The server we had was unprofessional, hovering around the table waiting for us to finish a plate so she could whisk it away immediately, even going so far as to ask, "are you still eating that?" when it was pretty obvious that all four of us were still chowing down.
The steak was cooked as ordered but it seemed small on the large plate and the sides were just same-old, same-old (garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables), not worthy of the $22 I paid for my entrée.
At least we know we won't be going back there.
Sorry, I apologise for saying we got Denny's service - we didn't - Denny's servers are waaaay more professional than this place.

Horrible Horrible dining experience - we will never return. Arrived as a party of two to ensure we could get an adequate size table. We were seated, and then proceeded to wait 45 minutes before our server offered us a drink (the place was not busy at all) The rest of our party arrived and again we had to wait upwards of 45 minutes for our waiter to come back. Finally, we watched a table leave for lack of service. When we finally oredered and received our food the chicken wings were still raw. After complaints to the manager about our horrendous service and terrible food we were given a credit for only the untouched raw chicken wings. Total time from walk in to paying for the tab was over 3 hours.. not by choice.
